Here’s what we know about Toradora season 2 till now.

Toradora Plot & Story

The story of Toradora is based primarily on the adventures of Ryuuji. A young student with a fierce appearance, yet a gentle heart. On the other hand is Taiga, a small, doll-like student. Small and stern, Taiga has an angry mood and a rapid nature.

One day, an awkward encounter causes the two students to cross paths. Ryuuji discovers that Taiga actually has a sweet side. She has a crush on the popular vice president, Yuusaku Kitamura, who happens to be Ryuuji’s best friend. But things only get crazier when Ryuuji reveals that he has a crush on Minori Kushieda—Taiga’s best friend!
Toradora! is a romantic comedy that follows this odd duo as they embark on a journey to help each other with their respective crushes, forming an unlikely partnership in the process.

Why there is no Taradora Season 2 yet?

Toradora anime is an adaptation of a light novel written by Takemiya Yuyuko and illustrated by Yasu. It started publishing on Mar 10, 2006 and concluded on Mar 10, 2009. It has a total of 62 chapters covered in 10 volumes. The novel series inspired the manga, game and a spin-off light novel.

The first season of anime adapted all 10 volumes. So, there is no source material available to create the second season.

Toradora Season 2 Release Date

The first season consists of 25 episodes premiered on Oct 2, 2008. On March 25, 2009, the series’ last episode aired. The series ran for one season. There has been no further news about the 2nd season since then.  Almost thirteen years have passed, so that’s a pretty long time.

The second season of Toradora is still waiting to be renewed. It is still possible for a sequel to be made even though the anime has been released for years. Some animes do not receive sequels for decades. Therefore, there is always a chance of its return as long as there is no official confirmation of its cancellation.

Production company J.C.Staff, behind the anime, is working on a number of projects. ‘Toradora’ may be included on its forthcoming list of projects. It could be a while before Toradora season 2 is released. This depends on when or if the anime will be renewed.

Ever since the streaming giant, Netflix has started taking interest in animes, it’s been a different game altogether. The rising popularity of animes worldwide has led to new seasons of animes being put into production many years after their previous season concluded.

For example, Tiger & Bunny which released Season 1 in 2011is coming back for its second season in 2022. World Trigger debuted in 2014, came back for Season 2 in 2021 and Season 3 in 2022.

So, there is a hope that Toradora would also return as millions of fans backing it. However, it would take a long time as there is a shortage of source material.

Toradora Characters Who Might Return For Season 2

‘Toradora’ is about Ryuuji Takasu and Taiga Aisaka, two enemies who become friends. Due to his serious eyes, Ryuuji is often mistaken for being mean and having an attitude by other students.

Minori Kushieda has been a crush of his for a long time. Taiga is Minori’s best friend. She is, however, a deliberately abrasive person that most people can’t stand.

Ryuuji has to hang out with Minori and Taiga constantly due to their friendship. But Ryuuji’s best friend offsets Taiga’s intensity. Yusaku Kitamura is a popular student who was elected vice president of their class with perfect grades.

A second character named Ami Kawashima joins the main group of characters. An old childhood friend of Yusaku’s, she is a beautiful façade hiding a sassy personality.

Soon after they arrive at their school, she immediately takes an interest in Ryuuji, constantly flirting with him. This makes Taiga mad. There are also many supporting characters in “Toradora” who might appear in Season 2.

Toradora Season 2 Plot

Ryuji and Taiga are the main characters in Toradora. As they grow closer, they begin to diverge from each other but eventually become deeply passionate about each other.

Their relationship is bickering at times. When they met for the first time, they agree to help each other get together with their friends. It turns out Ryuuji and Taiga fall in love with each other instead.

“Toradora” would be able to easily jump right back into its final year of high school if it were to return for another season. Fans may also see it jump ahead to university life.

In addition to that, it’s possible the anime will feature an entirely new couple. The new episodes may introduce one of the existing cast members or a new character.

But, due to the prominent role Ryuji and Taiga played in season 1, fans are probably hoping for a future season that features the same main characters.

Final Words on Toradora Season 2

It has been a long time since the first season aired. The real reason we haven’t received the second season of Toradora is the unavailability of the source material. There are a total of 10 light novel volumes. Season 1 adapted all 10 volumes. Fans can only hope as the chances of getting a second season are bleak.
