Tokyo Ravens is a Japanese fantasy-style action anime based on the Japanese light novel series of the same name. The first season comprised of 24 episodes started airing in Japan on Oct 9, 2013. The last episode of the first season aired on Mar 26, 2014.

The first season received a positive response and since then the fans are wondering why there is no sequel yet. Even the Manga series of Tokyo Ravens haven’t performed well. The last two volumes sold less than 1 lakh copies. Moreover, the last Manga volume was released in 2014, a long time back.

There are no figurines available for Tokyo Ravens. So, it didn’t make any money from the figures. Coming to merchandise, around 40 items are available which is way less. A strong anime has around 200 to 300 pieces of merchandise. Tokyo Ravens may not be making any money from merchandise either.

Other than these sources, Tokyo Ravens also makes a profit from the international license for Crunchyroll, streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and other platforms, collaboration with advertisers, and other collaborations. But these sales are also much far than satisfactory.

Tokyo Ravens franchise is definitely not performing well. The light novel and manga sales are below the mark. The franchise make almost zero money from merchandise and figurines.

3) Buzz and hype for Tokyo Ravens Season 2

It seems that the studio have no plan to carry forward the anime franchise. It’s been more than six years and there is no announcement on season 2 yet. The official website for Tokyo Ravens is not available now.

On anime and manga platforms, these is a decent buzz for Tokyo Ravens anime sequel. But as the years are passing, the buzz and demand is dipping.

Will There Be Tokyo Ravens Season 2?

Considering all the above factors, I can say that there will be no Tokyo Ravens season 2. The problem here is the profitability. Not only anime, but the source material sales i.e. light novel sales have seen downward trend in the last couple of years. The first season Blu-ray sales were also poor. Season 1 failed to make much money from streaming. Moreover, the novel series was discontinued way back in 2018.

So, Tokyo Ravens Season 2 looks higlly unlikely unless a digital giant like Netflix pick it up for production. This is bad news for fans waiting for Tokyo Ravens season 2.
