A month after the initial publication of the manga series, Season 1 of Dragon Ball Super, produced by Toei Animation, was released on July 5, 2015. It received a tremendous response not only in Japan but in other countries as well. Now the fans are super excited and eagerly waiting for the second season of Dragon Ball Super. Here’s everything we know about Season 2:
Why there is a delay?
The first season of Dragon Ball Super containing 131 episodes released on July 5, 2015. It spanned three long years, running till March 25, 2018. Fans were in for a treat when a special episode, titled Dragon Ball Super: Broly – Skytree Super, was released on November 1, 2018. On December 14, 2018, an anime movie titled Dragon Ball Super: Broly was released.
Since Dec 2018, fans are waiting for an official announcement of Season 2. In March 2019, much to fans delight, news reports claimed that Season 2 of Dragon Ball Super would premiere sometime in July 2019. However, Toei Animation, the producers, denied these reports. A Newsweek report in June 2029 confirmed that these were just rumours and that no new episodes were under production.
As things stand today, there is no official update regarding the second season of Dragon Ball Super. Well, the fans are disheartened and want to know about the future of the series. Well, there is no need to get disheartened as anime shows are usually renewed within a period of five years. So, there’s plenty of time left for Toei Animation to announce a renewal.
Another probable reason for the delay could be that Toei Animation was working on One Piece: Stampede. The staff working on Dragon Ball Super was busy with One Piece: Stampede in 2018 and 2019.
