Vinland Saga Season 2: Release date, plot, characters, episode count and everything you need to know.

Based on a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura, Vinland Saga is a historic action anime series. Season 1 comprising of 24 episodes aired in Japan from July 7, 2019, to Dec 29, 2019. In the past two years, this exciting anime series has gained a huge fan following. Now, these fans are eagerly waiting for the Vinland Saga Season 2. Here is everything we know about the next season of Vinland Saga anime.

Vinland Saga Season 2 release date

Though the fans are super excited for the next season, the makers haven’t announced it yet. However, director Shuuhei Yabuta teased the fans through a tweet. In September 2020, Yabuta posted on Twitter the sketches of three characters, Thorfinn, Askeladd, and Canute. He told his followers that “there is a small easter egg” and asked everyone to figure it out.

There were Nordic runes at the bottom of each artwork. If you spell it out, the runes reportedly translate to “SEA SON TWO.” However, in the comment section, Yabuta wrote that there was no deeper meaning.

There is also Japanese text that has the characters complaining about the season 2 delay. Thorfinn says, “How long must we wait?” To which, Askeladd replies, “That’s why I hate kids…” and Canute says, “It’s soon… I guess…”

This pretty much confirms that the second season of Vinland Saga is definitely on the cards. However, it will take time to arrive.

In March 2021, series character designer, Abiru Takahiko, hinted through a tweet that he was working on Vinland Saga. He tweeted:

This most important work is a clear reference to the portion of Vinland Sagar set on a farm, which wasn’t covered in the first season.

Well, the makers and studio are tight-lipped about the second season. As far as I understand, season two is already in production. I am expecting an official announcement pretty soon. Expect Vinland Saga season 2 to arrive in late 2021 or early 2022.

Vinland Saga Plot

The story set in the 11th century AD, with northern Europe at war. An Icelandic boy Thorfinn, joins the company of the Viking and military commander Askeladd after the latter kills his father. Thorfinn continues to challenge Askeladd in contests and loses every time. He seeks revenge but, ended up developing an uneasy, intense father/son relationship with Askeladd. Overall, Vinland Saga is a story of heartbreak, revenge, feeling, peace and relationship.
