This anime is an action-adventure story that showcases quality instances of fight sequences, humor, and drama.
Will there be One Punch Man Season 3?
For animes, the possibility of a sequel depends on several factors like the source material, popularity, demand for the sequel. We have analyzed these factors for One Punch Man Season 3. Based on our research, here is what we feel about the possibility of the third season of One Punch Man. Let’s discuss all these factors in detail:
1) Is There Enough Source Material For One Punch Man Season 3?
Almost every anime series use existing source material which usually is manga, light novel, or mobile game.
For One Punch Man anime, the source material is the Manga.
In order to affirm whether there will be more anime seasons, we need to check, how many volumes of manga hs been released so far. Is the story coming to an end? If the story is ending, there is a little possibility of continuation like what happened to Air Gear Season 2.
The next thing we need to check is how many Manga volumes have been adapted in making the first and second seasons of One Punch Man. Maybe there isn’t enough source material left to be adapted.
How many volumes of One Punch Man Manga have been released?
22 manga volumes of One Punch Man have been released in Japan to date. The first season of One Punch Man anime that aired in 2015 adapted volumes 1-7. The second season used manga volumes 8-16. So, we can say like No Game No Life, One Punch Man doesn’t have enough source material at this time.
The next season of the anime will start with volume 17. So, five volumes can be used for One Punch Man season 3.
Well, there isn’t enough source material for the next season of OPM. However, this should not be the problem as more Manga volumes would be out soon.
2) One Punch Man Season 2: Sales & Profit Information
The possibility of another season of an anime series also depends on the profitability as well as the sales of its source material, Blu-ray copies, merchandise, and viewership on OTT platforms. Most of the anime series lose money or take years to recover investment and make a profit.
Generally, anime sequels witness a drop of around 20% in profit. However, anything above it is a reason to worry and may refrain makers from continuing the franchise. Now let’s have a look at the sales and profit information of One Punch Man.
One Punch Man Blu-ray sales
The average sales per volume were around 10,000 for the first season and 1,300 for the second season. There is a drop of more than 80% in Blue-ray sales. However, Blu-ray is a thing of the past now and most of the viewers have switched to digital platforms for streaming. One Punch Man is a very popular anime series on OTT platforms.
One Punch Man Manga sales
The Manga sales are fantastic for One Punch Man. The latest Manga volume sold around 6,00,000 copies. The previous volumes were also huge hits with average sales of around 5,00,000. Average sales of 5,00,000 copies is a guarantee of a sequel in the anime industry.
One Punch Man Games sales
Two new games were announced last year. One is for iOS and Android and one for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, a game for PC and X Box released in February 2020. It only sold around 10,000 copies in Japan, a number far less than expected. An android and iOS game, One Punch Man: Road to Hero is also not fetching expected downloads. Both games have failed to impress the fans.
Well, the above are just the primary sources of revenue. Other than these sources, it also makes a profit from the international license for Crunchyroll, streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and other platforms, collaboration with advertisers, and other collaborations. But that sales are also much far than satisfactory.
Though the Blu-ray sales saw a drastic drop and the games are also performing poorly, One Punch Man is a profitable franchise as it makes a lot of money through Manga and streaming. So, profitability is not a problem here.
3) Buzz and hype for One Punch Man Season 3
In deciding the fate of an anime series, the most important factor is the demand for the sequel. In most cases, sequels are less popular than the first season. There are occasions when there is no buzz or hype for another season. This generally happens when the first season fails to provide enough boost to sales. This is what happened to Tokyo Ravens and we never got Tokyo Ravens season 2.
We analyzed various sources such as the official website, social media, and google trends to predict the fate of the franchise. Coming to One Punch Man, the hype and buzz is very strong just like Overload season 4.
The official One Punch Man Twitter account with more than 170K followers is very active and already has more than 170k followers. The google trends data is quite encouraging though the popularity of the show saw some drop. However, OPM has a huge fanbase backing it.
Bro season 2 of one punch man ended with a cliff hanger WTH how long do I have to wait for season 3…..bro im so mad rn 😤 Season 3 better drop soon

OPM is one of the most popular animes out there. Though season 2 wasn’t a big hit as the first one, still it was enough to go for season 3. Moreover, fans are eagerly waiting for the next season.
Considering all the above points, we can say that the creators have enough reasons to go ahead with the third season. The series has everything in its favor be it sales, hype or buzz, popularity. The main problem here is the source material. There isn’t enough source material available.
One Punch Man Season 3 Release Date
As there is some shortage of source material, I am expecting a delay in OPM season 3. The first and second season has a gap of more than 3 years and the same would be the case this time around. Don’t expect One Punch man season 3 to release in 2021. My best prediction would be sometime in 2022.
