One Piece Film: Red: Release Date & Everything You Need To Know

One Piece Film: Red is an upcoming fantasy anime movie directed by Gorō Taniguchi and produced by Toei Animation. It is the 15th movie of the One Piece film series which is based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. One Piece Film: Red was announced on November 21, 2021, during the celebration of One Piece’s 1000th episode. The producers released a teaser trailer and a poster after the 1000th episode. The fans are super excited and want to know more about the upcoming One Piece movie. Here is what we know.

Is there a release date yet for One Piece Film: Red?

The upcoming One Piece film is currently in production. The fans would be delighted to know that Toei Animation has announced the release date. One Piece Film: Red is going to be premiere in Japan on August 6, 2022.

An international release date for the movie hasn’t been announced yet. The fans across the globe would be hoping that the movie’s international release isn’t too late as was the case with previous movies of One Piece Universe.

What will be the Plot of the movie?

To date, there are no plot details or synopsis for One Piece: Red. However, we did get a few hints from the teaser trailer released last year during the announcement. It is for sure that the Mysterious Shanks will appear for the first time in any One Piece project. The scars of which can be clearly seen on the “D” in the film’s official title logo. Also, it’s quite a possibility that the Straw Hat Pirates will participate in a musical festival on an island.

Apart from that, the movie will also include a new female character. She’s probably a Sky Island Resident, as hinted in the teaser. Oda indicated that she has some sort of connection with the Shanks. Moreover, she possesses an “almighty voice” with “fiery red locks” as written on the official poster as a tagline.

Who are the crew members?

Eiichiro Oda, the writer and illustrator of One Piece manga, is serving as general producer and supervisor of the movie. Although Oda has overlooked quite a few One Piece movies, this is only the second time that he’s acting as a producer after One Piece Film: Strong World.

One Piece Film: Red is directed by Gorō Taniguchi who has previously worked on the very first One Piece special, “One Piece: Defeat The Pirate Ganzak in 1998.

The writer of the movie is Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who also wrote One Piece Film: Gold and its special, One Piece: Heart of Gold. Masayuki Sato has once again designed the characters for the movie. One of the best animation studios, Toei Animation is animating the project and needless to say that we will get one of the most beautiful One Piece movies.
