Trinity Seven franchise isn’t dead yet. For the last 10 years, we have seen the story in various forms such as manga, anime, light novels and movies. The Trinity Seven franchise started in 2010 in the form of a manga series by Kenji Saitō. The first anime season premiered in 2014, four years after the original manga began. The Trinity Seven franchise has seen decent popularity over the years whether irrespective of the form in which it published.
Talking about the Trinity Seven anime series, the first season aired in Japan from Oct 8, 2021, to Dec 14, 2021. Adapted by Seven Arcs Pictures, it received a decent response in Japan but wasn’t widely accepted worldwide. However, the franchise continued with an anime movie titled Trinity Seven the Movie: The Eternal Library and the Alchemist Girl released in 2017. It was followed by another movie Trinity Seven: Heavens Library & Crimson Lord premiered on March 29, 2019. The cast and staff from the anime series returned for these movies, giving us hope for the next season.
Trinity Seven Plot
As mentioned above, Trinity Seven was originally published through Monthly Dragon Age. It follows Arata Kasuga who is living a normal life together with his cousin and childhood friend Hijiri Kasuga. However, one day the Breakdown Phenomenon destroys the town and takes Hijiri away.
As Hijiri starts disappearing, she hangs a grimoire around his neck, asking it to protect Kasuga. Broken by losing Hijiri, Arata asks everything to be normal again. This leads to the grimoire artificially restoring his normal life and making him forget both the destruction and Hijiri.
One good day, Lilith Asami, a mage sent to investigate the ruins makes Arata remember the actual events. He is also informed that Hijiri is still alive. Arata decides in order to rescue Hijiri, he has to become a mage himself. He joins the Royal Biblia Academy, a secret school for mages that deals with magical issues around the world. In the school, he is introduced to the Trinity Seven, seven powerful mages in their particular category. Will there be Trinity Seven Season 2?
The possibility of more anime seasons depends on factors like the availability of the source material, demand for anime sequels and profit and sales.
Now coming to the source material, there is plenty available in the form of manga volumes. To date, 25 manga volumes have been published. The first season consisting of 12 episodes and two movies covered around 10 volumes. So, the makers have plenty of material to play with. There is a definite demand for the second season as Trinity Seven Season 2 still gets around 30k monthly searches every month on search engines. Loyal fans of the franchise are still waiting for the second season.
Trinity Seven franchise earns enough profit through various mediums like streaming, Blu-Ray, light novel series, manga and games. So, profitability shouldn’t be a big issue here.
Now the big question is, are the makers really interested to carry forward the franchise? Well, it doesn’t feel like. Studio Seven Arcs doesn’t have enough projects in its pipeline. If they are really keen to go ahead with Trinity Seven Season 2, it is a perfect time.
Trinity Seven franchise has decently survived for over 10 years. It is a good time for makers to bring more stories. Hopefully, Seven Arcs Pictures will bring the second season while there is enough hype and buzz.
