Lost In Space Season 3: Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The Sci-fi Family Drama on Netflix.
The show follows the Robinson family, who in the aftermath of an impact event that threatens the survival of humanity, is selected for the 24th mission of the Resolute (24th Colonist Group), an interstellar spacecraft carrying selected families to colonize the Alpha Centauri star system. But, before they reach their destination, an alien robot breaches the Resolute‘s hull. Forced to evacuate the mothership in the short-range Jupiter spacecraft, scores of colonists, the Robinsons, crash on a nearby habitable planet. There they must contend with a strange environment and battle their own personal demons as they search for a way back to the Resolute.
The show is a reboot of the 1965 series of the same name (itself a reimagining of the 1812 novel The Swiss Family Robinson). In March 2020, the series was renewed by Netflix for a third and final season. This announcement has sent the fans into a dizzy and they are eagerly awaiting the updates regarding the upcoming season. So what’s say, let’s begin.
What Will Be The Plot of Lost In Space Season 3?
It is anticipated that the season will reveal the alterations of the giant cliffhanger that ended Season 2, where the family was split up after a struggle with invading robots. The biggest question coming to Lost in Space Season 3 involves the Fortuna, the long-lost ship piloted by Grant Kelly, Judy’s biological dad.
In addition, showrunner, Zack Estrin told Pop Culture Times, “A big thing happened at the end of season 2: the kids and parents have split apart; we are going to pick up with two separate stories in season three. How do the kids and the parents find their way back together? What’s it like for the kids without the guide of their parents? It’s like a permanent summer camp except for the fact that the ants and insects are just big things that eat you.”

Since 2018, Lost In Space has been written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. This will be the case for Season 3 as well. Zack Estrin has been the showrunner since Season 1, and that looks to also be the case for Season 3. The show is partially produced by Kevin Burns and Jon Janashi, who have held the production rights since 1998.
Announcing the show’s renewal, showrunner Zack Estrin said to Radio Times that the Lost in Space team had always viewed The Robinsons’ story as a trilogy. He said “A three-part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle and end,” he said. “It’s also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode — if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission — it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr. Smith… and The Robot. And, of course, Debbie the Chicken.”
When Will Lost In Space Season 3 Premiere on Netflix?
Netflix has not yet announced an official release date. Before the coronavirus pandemic, season 3 was predicted to be released half-way through 2021, however as film and TV productions across the world are being impacted by COVID-19, it’s likely that the release date will be delayed. We can expect the show to release somewhere in late 2021 or early 2022, keeping in mind the VFX-heavy narrative. With more than a year left for Lost In Space season 3 premiere, you can stream season 1,2 on Netflix.
