Narcos: Mexico is a dangerous, thrilling, nerve-wracking, and super addictive crime drama web TV series. The thriller-cum-action series of the larger-than-life story of drug lord Pablo Escobar has caught the fancy of most Netflix viewers. Narcos: Mexico was originally intended to be the fourth season of the Netflix famous series Narcos. But the makers developed it as a companion series. While the original series was focused on the illegal drug trade in Colombia, Narcos: Mexico focuses on the illegal drug mafia in Mexico.

The first season of Narcos: Mexico premiered on Netflix in November 2018. Netflix followed it up with a much-anticipated hard-hitting season 2 in February 2020. After the success of two seasons, Netflix officially renewed the show for a third season in Oct 28, 2020. Here is everything you need to know about Narcos: Mexico season 3:

What plot will Narcos: Mexico Season 3 follow?

Narcos: Mexico traces the life events of drug mafia Pablo Escobar and the Guadalajara cartel in the city of Mexico in the 1980s. Season 1 of Narcos Mexico very well projected the rise of drug trafficking in Mexico which was followed by the super saga of Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna) reining the city as the Supreme Drug Lord.

Interestingly, the cartels once he ran turned their backs against him leading to his arrest. The second season ended on a high note with the arrest of Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna). He was thrown in jail for the murder of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena (Michael Peña).

There is nothing official on the plot of season three. The second season ended on a cliffhanger and in season 3 we will see Amado Carrillo Fuentes, who seized control of the Juárez Cartel after assassinating his boss Rafael Aguilar Guajardo take control of the drug Mafia in Mexico.

Season 3 will see the war that breaks out after Felix’s empire shatters. As newly independent cartels struggle to survive the political outbreak, we will see a new generation of Mexican kingpins emerge.

What the former showrunner has to say?

Chatting to The Hollywood Reporter about the future of the series, former showrunner Eric Newman said:

As I always say, we’ll go on as long as they let us and as long as the drug war rages – which, as you know, there is no end in sight. But I would be lying if I said I hadn’t put quite a bit of thought into where we would go. I’ve always had a pretty fair idea at where we end up. That’s about all I can say about season three. But it’s definitely something that we’re actively discussing internally.

Who is in the cast for Season 3?

Luna will not be back for the upcoming season. Seeveral faces including Scoot McNairy (Walt Breslin), Jose Maria Yazpik (Amado Carrillo Fuentes), Alberto Ammann (Hélmer Herrera aka Pacho), Alfonso Dosal (Benjamín Arellano Félix), Mayra Hermosillo (Enedina Arellano Félix), Matt Letscher (Jaime Kuykendall), Manuel Masalva (Ramón Arellano Félix), Alejandro Edda (Joaquín Guzmán aka El Chapo), and Gorka Lasaosa (Héctor Luis Palma Salazar).

New cast members include Alejandro Furth as Ramon Salgado, Lorenzo Ferro as Alex Hodoyan, José Zúñiga as General Rebollo, Diego Calva as Arturo Beltran Leyva, Kristen Lee Gutoskie as Dani, and Beau Mirchoff as Steve Sheridan.
