The fifth season of FX’s popular crime drama series Snowfall concluded airing on Apr 20, 2022. The fifth season showcased Franklin’s life more than a year after he hung up his cane in the Season 4 finale. Premiered in 2017, Snowfall is set in 1980s Los Angeles during the first crack epidemic and showcases the impact of drugs on the culture of Los Angeles city. It focuses on Franklin’s years-long journey from a 20-year-old part-time weed dealer to a fully-fledged cocaine drug lord. FX renewed Snowfall for the final season
FX renewed the series for the sixth season on April 5, 2022. But unfortunately, it will be the final season of the popular crime drama series. The renewal came as no surprise as Season 4 was FX’s most-watched series of 2021, per Deadline. The fifth season is the most-watched season of the show.
“FX first partnered with legendary writer/director John Singleton and the rest of the creative team six years ago to pursue their vision for an ambitious, powerful drama about the explosion of the crack epidemic of the early 80s,” said Nick Grad, FX’s President of Original Programming.
“Today, as the fifth season of Snowfall reaches new heights of acclaim and viewership, there is no question that this series has become an FX classic drama. We are thrilled to order a sixth season that will enable Dave Andron, Walter Mosley, and the rest of the producers to bring Snowfall to a climactic finale showcasing the brilliance of everyone involved, from the stellar cast led by Damson Idris to the writers, directors, artists and crew.”

FX locks Snowfall Season 6 Release Date
Prior to the fourth season, we used to get new Snowfall seasons in July. Season 4 was scheduled to premiere in July 2020 but got delayed by more than six months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Snowfall season 4 premiered on February 24, 2021, on FX, with the season finale aired on April 21, 2021. Exactly one year after, Season 5 premiered on FX on Feb 23, 2022. It concluded on April 20, 2022.
Now, exactly after a year, Snowfall is coming back for its sixth and final season. FX has announced that Snowfall will premiere the first two episodes of its sixth and final season on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 10/9c.
How many episodes are there in season six?
Like the previous seasons, the last season is going to have 10 episodes. After a two-episode premiere, the remaining episodes will be released weekly.
What Will Be The Plot Of Snowfall Season 6?
The fifth season ended with carnage we haven’t seen before. Everyone has formed their alliances. Franklin dealt with the disintegration of his inner circle, as Louie and Jerome stepped back to run things their own way. At the end of the fifth season, the devastated Franklin swore war on everyone.
Co-creator and showrunner Dave Andron told The Hollywood Reporter that the show would get a really heavy finale season.
“I think we’ve always tried to keep a bit of the light touch in this show. Obviously, the show is about very serious things and about a very dark moment in American history. We’ve tried to kind of find some of the levity in that because there is a lot of humor in the situations in the world, and it’s part of how people survive day to day. I think this last season, the story has to ultimately be a tragedy, and this last season is going to feel, I think, a little heavier.”
“The last two seasons I think you can feel the moments when we’re trying to have things have a lighter touch, and then the last two episodes settle into a very specific tone. And I think the last season is going to be more represented by that tone,” he concluded.
Season 6 Synopsis
Season 6 picks up in October 1986 as civil war threatens to destroy the Saint family. As per the official synopsis:
“Franklin (played by Damson Idris) is desperate, forced to rob his Aunt Louie (Angela Lewis) and Uncle Jerome (Amin Joseph) after being wiped out by former CIA officer Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson). Meanwhile, Louie has taken over Franklin’s role as Teddy’s sole buyer, undercutting her nephew and creating a competing empire in the process.”
If you follow Snowfall, then you would probably know that it won’t be a happy ending for most characters. The show is primarily about pain, money, and ambitions that went wrong. Though it is almost guaranteed that Franklin will seek revenge on Teddy, he himself won’t walk away freely.

Recently, Canadian actress Tamara Taylor joined the cast for the final season. However, details about her role are not out.
Snowfall was created by the late John Singleton, Eric Amadio and Dave Andron (who currently serves as showrunner). Executive producers include Idris, Amadio, Thomas Schlamme, Michael London, Trevor Engelson, Walter Mosley, Julie DeJoie and John LaBrucherie.
Snowfall Season 6 filming details
As per the reports coming, the filming for the sixth has finally started. In a new post on his Instagram Stories, Idris shared a first-look picture from the season 6 table read, which means that the cast is back in action. Here’s another Instagram post shared by Idris which confirms that he is on the sets. As per the reports, the filming for the final season wrapped up on Dec 17, 2022.

Will there be Snowfall Season 7?
