Alice in Borderland season 3 potential release date
After the grand success of the second season, Netflix officially renewed the series for the third season on September 28, 2023. Well, it wasn’t a big surprise as the second season proved a huge hit, becoming Netflix Japan’s most-watched title ever. When Season 2 debuted in December 2022, it shot up to the Top 10 in over 90 countries, claiming the No. 1 spot in 17 of them. In Japan, it held the top spot for 14 consecutive days.
There was a gap of two years between the release of the first and the second season, with both seasons receiving a December release date. But that doesn’t automatically indicate we should set our calendars for December 2024.
The pandemic caused a slowdown in season two’s production, leading to the two-year delay. This suggests that there’s a good chance that season three might arrive on the streaming service as soon as Spring 2024.

What will be the plot of Alice in Borderland Season 3?
Arisu and the team might be in for a major surprise next season. Even though they thought they had reached the ‘real world’ by the season’s end, the appearance of the Joker card hints that they’re far from it. Considering how the second season ended, the third season might focus on the Joker as its main villain.
Season 2 of Alice in Borderland concluded the story in Haro Aso’s manga, with many questioning where the show will head now.
The third season might also be adapted from Alice on Border Road or Alice in Borderland Retry, two of the manga creator’s Borderland spinoffs. But while Alice in Borderland Retry is a follow-up to Alice in Borderland, Alice on Border Road and Alice in Borderland just have a similar idea.
The adaptation of Alice in Borderland Retry for the third season by the show’s creators would therefore make sense. However, this is only a hunch. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, so viewers will have to wait.
Who is the cast of Alice in Borderland Season 3?
Although many details remain unknown, Netflix VP of APAC Content Minyoung Kim has confirmed two castings for Season 3. Beloved actors Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya will return to portray their roles as Arisu and Usagi, much to the delight of fans.
Fans of Alice in Borderland eagerly anticipate the return of familiar faces like Dori Sakurada as Niragi, Shô Aoyagi as Aguni, Aya Asahina as Kuina, Nijirô Murakami as Chishiya, Ayaka Miyoshi as Ann, and the Season 2 addition, Yuri Tsunematsu as Heiya.
While most of these characters survived Season 2, the fate of Yutaro Watanabe’s Tatta remains uncertain. Yet, the show’s history suggests that even death might not prevent a character’s comeback. The possibilities seem limitless for what’s in store!

Who is making Alice in Borderland Season 3?
Nothing much was revealed on this front except that Shinsuke Sato will direct the third season as well. His continued direction will also ensure that the series maintains its trademark intensity and thrill.
