Blue Lock Season 2: Release Date Prediction, Confirmation & Everything We Know!

Blue Lock Season 2 was officially confirmed, alongside a spin-off movie, after the end credits of the season one finale.

  • Blue Lock season one aired from October 2022 to March 2023.
  • Blue Lock season two was officially confirmed, alongside a spin-off movie, after the first season.

Blue Lock is a Japanese manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, which was later adapted into an anime series in October 2022. Following the anime adaptation of its manga, the show saw a spike in popularity as fans who had previously dismissed the manga as just another sports series realized that it transformed regular soccer players into shonen heroes.

With so much popularity, it’s understandable that the creators want to keep the ball rolling. Hence, the second season was officially confirmed, alongside a spin-off movie, after the end credits of the season one finale. So, if you’ve been stumbling around looking for the upcoming season’s release date, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about Blue Lock Season 2.

When is Blue Lock Season 2 Release Date?

It was revealed in March 2023 that Blue Lock had been given the go-ahead for a second season. A teaser for the announcement surfaced immediately following the conclusion of the first season. The same teaser also disclosed that BLUELOCK: Episode Nagi, an anime movie based on the spin-off manga series Episode Nagi, is also in production.

Blue Lock season one aired from October 2022 to March 2023. Across its 24 episodes, the anime covered 11 volumes (roughly 90 chapters) of the manga, which originally started in 2018.

Blue Lock season one aired from October 2022 to March 2023. Across its 24 episodes, the anime covered 11 volumes (roughly 90 chapters) of the manga, which originally started in 2018.

If the second season follows the same pattern and covers the same amount of source material, then fans might not be waiting too long. There are currently 27 volumes of the manga available, which means there’s just enough material available to produce another season.

If we expect Blue Lock season two to cover the same amount of source material, then fans might not be waiting too long. There are currently 24 volumes of the manga available, which means there’s currently just enough plot for a second season to go into production.

Unfortunately, Blue Lock Season 2’s official release date has not yet been announced. Season two is officially in the works, but we don’t know when it will premiere. However, assuming an optimistic prediction, the release of Blue Lock season 2 is unlikely to occur before the fall of 2024.

If you can’t wait that long, the show’s official account has confirmed that a spin-off movie, titled Blue Lock: Episode Nagi, will be released in Japan in spring 2024.

What will be the plot of Blue Lock Season 2?

At the end of Blue Lock Season 1, Kunigami did not pass the Second Selection, leaving Isagi without his closest friend. As a result, Blue Lock Season 2 is expected to explore the aftermath of Kunigami’s departure and how it will affect Isagi.

Based on the events of the finale, Blue Lock Season 2 could adapt volumes 12–23 of the original manga, known as the Third Selection arc.

With Jinpachi’s goal of forming the Blue Lock Eleven, the story will primarily center on reducing the number of players from 35 to 11. Therefore,  Blue Lock Season 2 promises to be an exciting and heart-pounding experience for both fans and newcomers alike with its superb animation and gripping suspense.
