New KonoSuba Anime Project Confirmed: Is This Season 3 or A New Movie?

While the fans are waiting for KonoSuba Season 3, a new KonoSuba anime project has officially been confirmed to be in production!

Finally, some good news for KonoSuba anime fans out there. A new anime project based on ‘KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World’ light novel series has been announced to be in production. The announcement was made through the official Twitter account. It reads:

New animation production decision! A blessing to this wonderful world! The production of a new animation has been decided! New animation announcement visual released! Please look forward to the follow-up report #KonoSubaSparkles

The announcement didn’t mention whether the upcoming project will be KonoSuba Season 3 or a standalone movie. The studio and staff animating the project haven’t been announced yet, either.

‘KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!’ is a popular Japanese Light novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki. The light novel series began serialization in Oct 2013. The 17th volume of the light novel series was published on May 1, 2021. The light novel received a manga adaptation in October 2014, and a spin-off novel series titled ‘KonoSuba: An Explosion on this Wonderful World!’ also began serialization in 2014.

An anime adaptation by studio Studio Deen aired in Japan from January and March 2016. A second season of the anime series aired from January and March 2017. While the fans waited for the third season of KonoSuba, an anime film titled KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Legend of Crimson premiered on August 30, 2019.

The story of KonoSuba revolves around Kazuma, a teenager who meets the Goddess Aqua after dying. Aqua offers her to reincarnate him in a fantasy world with MMORPG elements, where he can go on adventures and battle monsters. Aqua accompanies him on this journey full of adventures.
