The manga was turned into an anime series. The first season aired from January to March 2019 on TBS. Though the manga series concluded its serialization in 2020, the second anime season. The second season’s sequel, The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie, was released as a film in May 2022. as released in 2021. It aired from January to March 2021.
The Quintessential Quintuplets is a harem anime that follows the lives of Futaro Uesugi, a high school student who is employed as a private teacher for a group of identical quintuplets: Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki Nakano. Well, the anime was renewed for a sequel, according to an announcement made on April 18, 2021. This news, which was initially supposed to be about the third season, actually led to a film. The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie was released in May 2022 and continued the events of season 2.
So, does the movie serve as the conclusion of the anime? To understand, let’s take a look at the source material. The manga series wrapped up its serialization in 2020 across 14 volumes containing 122 chapters. The initial season of the anime adapted the first 32 manga chapters, while the second season accelerated its pace by trimming story arcs and dialogue. As a result, the second season encompassed content up to chapter 86 of the manga.
The movie served as a sequel to the second season of the anime series. It almost adapted all chapters of the manga. The movie concluded the story arc with Futaro Uesugi getting married to Yotsuba Nakano.
The ending of the movie is the same as the Manga, however, they added original content to explain why Futaro chose Yotsuba in more detail.
