The second season of the epic series has its finale on October 6, 2023, and viewers are already wondering whether there will be additional seasons or if season 2 will be the last. So, with two successful seasons under its belt, fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Season 3.

Therefore, this article will explore everything we know about “The Wheel of Time” Season 3, including the plot, cast, and potential surprises awaiting viewers. In order to know, keep on reading.

Will there be The Wheel of Time Season 3?

Indeed, the initial announcement dates back to July 2022, a whole year before the premiere of season 2. Although the exact number of seasons the show will have remains uncertain, we can confirm that season 3 is already in the works.

When will The Wheel of Time Season 3 premiere on Prime Video?

The first season of the epic show premiered on Nov 19, 2021. The show was renewed for a second season in May 2021, which premiered on the streamer in September 2023.

We’re aware that filming for season 3 took place during the summer, and, like many other European productions, it wasn’t affected by the strikes this year. This raises the possibility of a Prime Video release as early as next year.

However, if Amazon opts for a more spaced-out release schedule, and continues to drop new seasons at a gap of two years, we might not see the return of Wheel of Time until 2025.

What will be the plot  of The Wheel of Time Season 3?

The Wheel of Time Season 2 coverered the second and third books in the series, The Great Hunt and The Dragon Reborn. Expressing his excitement about the production of a third season, executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins has confirmed that this next installment will be based on the fourth novel, The Shadow Rising, originally published by Jordan in 1992. That being said, it’s not clear how far into the next book the show will go.

On September 27, 2023, Judkins posted on X/Twitter that season three will be “even more sophisticated and rich and deep” than the previous season.

“I’ve always said that people grew up with the books. That the tone and storytelling and emotions of the first book progress and mature until you reach the incredible depths of the final books. I hope the show is the same.”

“The Shadow Rising has always been my favorite book in the series, so being able to bring it to television and introduce new audiences to the stories that made me fall in love with these books in the first place is such an honor, and something I’ve been working toward since I first pitched the show years and years ago,” Judkins said during the show’s Comic-Con presentation, per Deadline.

This novel boasts an extensive 58 chapters, standing out as the lengthiest of the series. The Shadow Rising primarily revolves around Rand al’Thor — who now wields the sword Callandor — as he seeks answers to another prophecy that’s tied up with warrior people known as the Aiel.
