10 Undeserving Movies in Bollywood's 100 Crore Club
10 Undeserving Movies in Bollywood's 100 Crore Club

The list of movies which crossed the 100 crore mark is dominated by lots of ridiculous and silly flicks. No one knows for sure what makes these movies such big hits, maybe it is the big names associated with them or maybe just the music. But one thing is sure, they do not deserve what they got. So here’s a list of top 10 Bollywood movies which got into the 100 crore club for no reason at all!

1. Dhoom 3

Dhoom 3 has a completely nonsensical story, multiple scenes lifted from iconic movies like The Prestige, Now You See Me and messily merged into the usual crappy acting, songs and a complete disregard for common sense. Supposedly about bank robbers and magicians, there’s not a single bank robbery or magic trick in this three-hour movie. What’s more confounding is that the film has managed to bust box-office records anyway!

2. Happy New Year

Happy New Year is a cross between an Oceans 11/12 and Flashdance and some other movies which stress on patriotic sentiments. This movie is just a complete mess, that exists for no other reason but to parade the astonishing star power of its hero to the audience, and that is the one and the only reason why it crossed the 100 crore mark!

Bollywood Success Mantra- If you cast Shah Rukh Khan in your movie, it will eventually make money, no matter how stupid, tiresome and humourless it is.

3. Ra.One

This Bollywood superhero film is gloriously silly, with stunts, CG animation, and music numbers bursting out all over. In Ra.One, Shah Rukh Khan trying to reinvent himself yet again, this time as an action star, a dream that we hear he’s harboured for the longest time. But his role in Ra.One leaves a lot to be desired. Ra.One seems to have been put together rather half-heartedly. Ra.One is one of the most undeserving movies in Bollywood’s 100 Crore Club.

4. Bang Bang

Bang Bang is the official remake (or rather copy) of an already bad Knight and Day. Bang Bang feels overdone in its soppy dialogues and under-cooked in its direction. The film employs an already overused storyline, but the film’s biggest letdown is bringing in faux patriotism and emotional family melodrama, ruining its comedy tone.  At least, Knight And Day had surprises along the plot line. Bang Bang cannot even manage that.

5. Krrish 3

Krrish 3 was primarily made for kids but is so abysmal that you should be most concerned if your children (or any other kid) want to see this. Krrish 3 has uninteresting, drawn out action scenes; childish logic and uneven acting, especially by Hrithik Roshan, who is a mouth-breather and gives a noisy voice. Overall, the movie is devoid of that one secret ingredient that makes audiences love superhero films. It just isn’t cool!

6. Ready

Ready has no story. The thin plotline is stretched too long and the film relies entirely on funny lines and performances. The biggest problem with Ready is that the action scenes are limited and the film isn’t very funny either. Also, parts of the first half tend to get boring. Asin has little to do and she annoys a lot. The two reasons it crossed 100 crore mark are-Salman Khan and the peppy music numbers.

7. Grand Masti

Grand Masti

Grand Masti is one of the most ridiculously offensive movies ever made. The film’s genre was always known to us and we knew the movie would be loaded with double meaning jokes, but it does not click. Masti, I remember was a lot of fun. This is supposedly its sequel. That one even had a story. But that’s not the case for Grand Masti. I wonder what happened to Indra Kumar, how did he stoop so low?

8. Bodyguard

Bodyguard is endurable only for those who can forgive the haphazard story and be happy enjoying the songs and watching Salman and Kareena onscreen. It’s no mystery that this is a remake of a Malayalam movie which was very silly itself. They made Bodyguard without even tweaking the storyline, making it no better than the original. Bodyguard has nothing fresh to offer, in fact, its love story is also borrowed from Ghajini and climax from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

9. Rowdy Rathore

Rowdy Rathore

The good old “Khaki Vardi” has generated very good numbers in Wanted, Dabangg, Singham already. So does it in Rowdy Rathore. Is this entertaining? Not for me. Rowdy Rathore is pure noise. The lack of originality is substituted with an overdose of action with a fight sequence popping up every ten minutes in the second half.  The action is not just heavy-duty and hardcore but at times head-banging also, maybe a little too violent for our taste.

10. Housefull 2

Housefull 2

Housefull 2 has exactly the same mix of stars, foreign locations, ridiculous plot and dim-witted comedy as the first Housefull. There is no storyline at all, all that exists is a set of confusing sequences put together. Despite an ensemble cast, Akshay Kumar carries the film on his shoulders. His scenes are amusing, if not uproarious. John Abraham tries too hard to bring a laugh but fails miserably. The four female leads do not have much to do and serve only as eye candy. The movie is definitely not a laugh-riot.

11. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Probably one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, as the name suggests is full of family values and drama. Sooraj Barjatya’s worst movie managed to cross 200 crores in India only because of Salman Khan.

12. Dilwale

Undeserving Movies in Bollywood's 100 Crore Club - Dilwale
SRK and Kajol in Dilwale

One of the worst films of Shah Rukh Khan. This movie marks the downfall of SRK as an actor. A film which Rohit Shetty tried to drive on SRK and Kajol’s star power but failed terribly.

13. Dabangg 2

You will hate me for this. But the fact is that Dabangg 2 was made just to carry forward the franchise. Dabanng was good and made at a time when desi films were in vogue. Dabangg 2 is plain crap and lacks the originality.

14. Son Of Sardaar

Undeserving Movies in Bollywood's 100 Crore Club - Son Of SardaarDirected by Ashwini Dheer and starring big names like Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Juhi Chawla and Sonakshi Sinha, this senseless comedy film managed to cross 100 crore mark in India. We really don’t have any answer.

15. Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Yash Chopra’s last film was probably his weakest film in terms of story and direction. A senseless plot and lack of emotions left us disgusted. The only saving grace in the film was Shah Rukh Khan’s rugged look.
