Actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been roped in to play the male lead in the official Hindi remake of the Hollywood romantic saga, The Fault In Our Stars. The movie will be produced by Fox Star Studios and the shooting will start in the first half of 2018. Sushant will play Ensel Algort’s character, a cancer patient.
The movie features a sixteen-year-old cancer patient who is forced by her parents to attend a support group, where she meets and subsequently falls in love with a boy, another cancer patient. The original movie directed by Josh Boone was based on the novel of the same name by John Green.
Famous casting director Mukesh Chhabra is making his directional debut with the movie. Confirming the news, Chhabra said he is currently working on the script and the team is looking for a for a female lead.
Chhabra said in a statement: “Yes, I am on board for ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ remake. I’m working on the script at the moment. Sushant is the leading man and we are still in the process of casting the heroine.”
The Hindi remake of the film was first announced on in August 2014. There were reports that Homi Adajania will direct the movie and it will star Varun Dhawan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. Well, the things never materialize and now after 3 years, Fox Star has made it official.
Sushant Rajput is on a movie signing streak. The talented actor has four big movies in his kitty. He will be next seen in ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke‘ which also star R Madhavan and Bhumi Pednekar. After CMDK, he will be seen in Drive and Kedarnath.
