Previously titled ‘Kizie Aur Manny’, ‘Dil Bechara’ is casting director Mukesh Chhabra’s directional debut. The film was slated for May 8, 2020 release.

One of the top young actors of Bollywood, Sushant Singh Rajput is no more with us. The actor committed suicide yesterday and was found dead at his Bandra residence. While the fans and friends are still not believing that they have lost a young star, Industry is also shell shocked.

Sushant is one of the finest young actors of the present generation. The testimony of this fact is that he delivered powerful performances in films like Kai Po Che, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, Sonchidiya and Chhichhore. Sushant had many films in his kitty and one of them is ready for release.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s last movie would be ‘Dil Bechara’. Previously titled ‘Kizie Aur Manny’, ‘Dil Bechara’ is casting director Mukesh Chhabra’s directional debut. The film was slated for May 8, 2020 release. However, due to shutdown, the film failed to release in theatres. On Saturday only, few websites reported that ‘Dil Bechara’ would directly release on OTT platform like few other Bollywood films.

‘Dil Bechara’ is a Hindi adaptation of 2014 Hollywood film ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. The film was stalled after Mukesh Chhabra was accused under #MeToo movement. However, he came back and completed the film which was initially scheduled for Nov 2019 release. Apart from Sushant, the film also stars Sanjana Sanghi (Rockstar fame) and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles.

Rifleman and more films

Sushant also had a war film titled Rifleman in his kitty. The film based on Mahavir Chakra recipient Jaswant Singh Rawat’s life was in a legal issue as the makers of 72 Hours: Martyr Who Never Died (2019 film) claimed they had the original rights to make the film.

Apart from these two confirmed films, Sushant was also a part Shekhar Kapoor’s Paani and a space film Chanda Mama Door Ke. However, both these films remained in pre-production due to budget and other technical issues.

Sushant Singh Rajpur’s last movie: Theatrical release

Sushant Singh Rajput’s last release was ‘Drive‘ with Jacqueline Fernandez. However, it was a Netflix film. His last theatrical release was Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Chhichhore’ which also had Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin and others in pivotal roles. Released on 6 Sep 2019, the film collected around Rs 150 crore in India. Ironically, Sushant gave life lessons to his on-screen son in the film.
