Farhan Akhtar is busy in the promotions of his next film Wazir these days.

During the promotional event for his upcoming thriller flick, Wazir, Farhan Akhtar spoke about a lot of things. He was asked whether he would like to be a part of a hardcore action film, to which he said,

“There is a lot of action in Wazir and this one is as commercial as it gets. Wazir is as mainstream a film as it gets. The film has a great music and it stars Mr. Amitabh Bachchan so we tick all the boxes which are required in terms of a commercial film.”

According to Farhan, Wazir is a story of revenge, friendship, love and those are like classic things which get universally accepted.

Not many of you may know this, but Farhan Akhtar was offered the role of a cop in Raees, but he rejected it. When asked about the reason behind the rejection, he said,

“I enjoyed the script of Raees very much when Rahul Dholakia narrated it to me and that is the reason why we are producing it, but somehow I felt that the character was not apt for me.”

He feels that the character is inherently suited for Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his rejection would work out well for the film and the viewers because there will be a synergy between the actor and character. He is sure the viewers are going to be stunned after watching Raees.

As you all know, the release date of Sultan is clashing with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees. Since Farhan is producing the film, he feels that clashes affect the business of the films as audiences get divided and it has happened many times in the past, but there have been times when both the films have done a good business. He said,

“While the opening numbers of both Raees and Sultan will be affected, but I think in long run it is the word of mouth publicity which will matter. There cannot be a better publicity than people coming out and speaking about it. A good word of mouth would ensure a long run at the Box-Office.”

He was also asked to speak about the first multiplex film Dil Chahta Hai. He clarified that the movie released only at Single Screen Theaters. He said,

“I find it amazing how people labeled Dil Chahta Hai as one of the first Multiplex Films as there were no Multiplexes when it release. Many young directors have spoken to me about the influence of Dil Chahta Hai and Lakshya in their career and I am very thankful to them. Even I was inspired by people’s work to be a part of this industry and likewise it is wonderful on my part to be able to do the same.”

Wazir will release on 8th January 2016. Have you seen the gripping trailer yet?
