From Wanted in 2009 to Bharat in 2019, let’s have a look at the box office report of Bollywood movies released on Eid in last 10 years.
If there would have been no lockdown then we would have witnessed a big box office clash. Salman Khan’s Radhe and Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb were scheduled to releases today. But as the multiplexes and cinema halls across the country are closed due to lockdown, fans are distressed.
Radhe could have been Salman Khan’s next Eid blockbuster. Eid is considered a lucky festival for Sallu as all his films released during this period have emerged big hits at the box office. Salman made a strong comeback with Prabhu Deva’s ‘Wanted’ released during Eid 2009. The movie was a turning point for Salman Khan career and since then there is no looking back.
In fact, Eid is considered a very good release period for Bollywood movies. From 2009 to 2019, 10 out of 11 movies released on Eid belongs to Salman Khan. Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express is the only Non-Salman movie which was released on Eid in the last 11 years. That movie too was a huge blockbuster at the box office. For the first time in the last 11 years, we could have witnessed a big clash on Eid. But coronavirus had some other plans.
Coming to the status of both films, Laxxmi Bomb is complete and the producers are looking for direct digital release. On the other hand, Salman Khan’s Radhe has two songs and some outdoor shooting still left. Reports suggest that Salman is in no hurry to release the incomplete film. He is waiting for the situation to get better.
