Following the completion of Paramount+’s merger with Showtime in January 2023, The Wall Street Journal confirmed that multiple Dexter spin-offs – as well as a follow-up to the hugely successful New Blood revival series – were in the works.

A spin-off titled Dexter: Origins is in development
A prequel Dexter series called Dexter: Origins is also in development. It will focus on a younger Dexter Morgan after his college graduation and showcase how he became the infamous vigilante serial killer seen in the original Dexter series.
We will get to see the younger versions of many of the characters we came to know in the original show. It will also feature Dexter’s family, including Harry and a very problematic, teenage Deb.

The upcoming season will focus on Dexter’s son Harrison. After surviving a challenging reunion with his father, Harrison escapes to New York City. There, he tussles with his inner demons and questions whether he shares his father’s inclination towards violence and killing. The upcoming drama will explore the kinds of themes and scenarios seen in the original series but from a fresh perspective.

In the upcoming season, the focus will switch from Dexter to his son Harrison Morgan (played by Jack Alcott). He will be the main protagonist. Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) may also return in a flashback or as a ghost in imagination. Though there are no updates, we expect a few cast members from the first season to reprise their roles.
