Contrary to the reports that Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ will wait for a theatrical release, sources reveal that it is very much releasing on the Disney+ Hotstar as planned.

Theatres across the country are shut down for over five months now. To minimize the loss several Bollywood movies including biggies like Gulabo Sitabo, Dil Bechara have opted for direct digital release. More movies are scheduled for direct-ott release in the coming months and the most anticipated among them is Akshay Kumar’s ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ scheduled for release on Disney+ Hotstar.

Yesterday, some reports claimed that the movie has been pulled out from the OTT platforms. The makers have decided to wait for cinemas to reopen, and release it theatrically before digital release.

However, these reports turn out baseless. Hindustan Times has reported that ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ is indeed releasing on Disney+ Hotstar. A source told Hindustan Times, “No, Laxmmi Bomb is not being pulled out of the OTT platform. These are absolutely fake stories which have no meaning. Disney Hotstar is absolutely going ahead with its plan to release Laxxmi Bomb.”

A famous Bollywood portal reported that Laxmmi Bomb was set to release on Akki’s birthday on September 9, but this rumor also turns out baseless.

“Laxmmi Bomb was never meant to release on Akshay’s birthday. So, the OTT platform is definitely going ahead with their plan or releasing the film in November and the date isn’t decided yet.” the source said.

Some reports suggest that Laxmmi Bomb will release digitally on Diwali 2020. It is a Hindi remake of Tamil super hit movie Muni 2: Kanchana (2011). It is directed by Raghava Lawrence, who helmed the original as well. Laxmmi Bomb also stars Kiara Advani, Tusshar Kapoor, and Sharad Kelkar.
