Mission Raniganj OTT release date and platform

Mission Raniganj OTT Release: Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, Mission Raniganj starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role will start streaming on Netflix on December 1, 2023.

Though Akshay Kumar‘s rescue thriller movie Mission Raniganj received an average response on its theatrical release, it is probably one of the best Bollywood movies to come out this year.

The thrilling rescue drama draws inspiration from a true-life tragedy that unfolded in Raniganj, West Bengal back in 1989. Six miners lost their lives, while 65 others found themselves trapped in a flooded coal mine. Jaswant Singh Gill, a skilled mining engineer and rescue specialist played by Akshay Kumar emerged as a national hero by successfully saving all 65 trapped miners.

The thrilling drama received applause from critics and viewers. On IMDb, Mission Raniganj has a good score of 7.7/10 from 12K+ votes. Once Mission Raniganj was out of theatres, several people realized how good and relevant it was. So, the viewers are now anticipating for its OTT release.

Well, here is some good news for cinephiles waiting for the digital release of the movie. Mission Raniganj will start streaming on Netflix from December 1, 2023. Netflix’s synopsis of the movie reads, “When a flood leaves dozens of workers trapped in a coal mine, an engineer embarks on a daring rescue mission to save them. Inspired by real events.”

Apart from Akshay, Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue also stars Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Jameel Khan, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Parineeti Chopra, Sudhir Pandey, and Shishir Sharma. It was earlier reportedly titled Capsule Gill and The Great Indian Rescue.

Mission Raniganj marks the second collaboration between Akshay Kumar and director Tinu Suresh Desai. Desai had directed the Khiladi star in the 2016 crime thriller Rustom, inspired by the true account of Indian naval officer KM Nanavati, who faced trial for the murder of Prem Ahuja, his wife’s lover. This case marked the final jury trial in Indian legal history.
