Padmaavat - PadMan clash averted: Akshay Kumar’s film release pushed to February 9

It’s official now. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most awaited Padmavati (now Padmavat) will clash with Akshay Kumar’s Padman.

A good and a bad news for all Bollywood fans out there. The never ending wait for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati (now Padmavat) is now over. The film will hit the big screens on 25 Jan 2018.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the film’s new release date. Taran tweeted, “#Padmavat to release on 25 Jan 2018… #RepublicDayWeekend”

This is certainly not a good news for Akshay Kumar whose film Padman is also scheduled to release on the same date. Padman also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead roles. The makers of Padman has already made it clear that they will not change the release date of their film. This results in the first big box office clash of 2018.

Padmavat (formally padmavati) stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie has been in news ever since its announcement. It was recently given a green signal by the CBFC after few modifications and change in the titke from Padmavati to Padmavat.
