Still, 40 crores in the first weekend is a big number for the film which is not a commercial potboiler. Padman is based on the issue of menstrual hygiene, a subject which will not attract audience in mass centers. Padman is making most of its earnings from metro cities.
The movie has received tremendous reviews and this is the only reason, it witnessed good growth over the weekend. The movie has been made on a constraint budget of around 70 crores (including Akshay Kumar’s salary). The movie has already recovered around 50 crores through satellite, music, overseas and digital rights. Padman needs to earn around 90 crores to be called a hit at the box office.
