Padman first weekend collection: Akshay Kumar’s Padman had a good opening weekend at the box office with the collection of around 40 crores.

Akshay Kumar’s new film Padman had a good opening weekend at the domestic box office. On Friday, the movie had a nationwide release on 9 Feb. It seems that Akshay Kumar’s decision to postpone the release date from 25 Jan to 9 Feb is working in the favour of the movie. Let’s have a detailed look at Padman first weekend collection.

Padman first weekend collection: day-wise report

Padman had an average opening on the domestic box office, earning 10.26 crores on the first day. On Saturday, the movie witnessed big jump, owing to good reviews and positive response from audience. It earned 13.68 crores on its second day. On the last day of the weekend i.e Sunday, the movie again saw good jump. As per the reports coming, it earned around 16 crores on its third day to take the first weekend total close to 40 crores.

Comparison with other Akshay Kumar films

Talking about the first weekend collection, Padman is the lowest earning film for Akshay Kumar is the last three years. Still, 40 crores in the first weekend is a big number for the film which is not a commercial potboiler. Padman is based on the issue of menstrual hygiene, a subject which will not attract audience in mass centers. Padman is making most of its earnings from metro cities.

The movie has received tremendous reviews and this is the only reason, it witnessed good growth over the weekend. The movie has been made on a constraint budget of around 70 crores (including Akshay Kumar’s salary). The movie has already recovered around 50 crores through satellite, music, overseas and digital rights. Padman needs to earn around 90 crores to be called a hit at the box office.
