Yellowstone Season Renewal Status, Will There Be More Seasons?
Though Paramount Network has not yet officially renewed Yellowstone for season five, we are assured that we will get renewal news sooner or later. Given Yellowstone‘s tremendous ratings and its increasing popularity with every season, it would be a shocker, if the network cancel the series after the fourth season.
The viewership of Yellowstone is increasing at an exponential rate with every season. While Season 2 used to get around 2.3 million views per episode, Season 4 is garnering around 7.5 million views per episode. These are exceptional numbers, to say the least.
In March 2021, star Cole Hauser, who plays Rip, spilled beans about the potential fifth season. In a virtual happy hour with Hall Wines, he said that preparations for a fifth season are already in the works.
“Season five is going to be wonderful. The way we ended season four—I can’t give too much away, but the way season four ends, I think the audience… will be happily surprised.”
What is the probable release date for Yellowstone Season 5?
Prior to season four, Yellowstone’s new seasons used to premiere in June and conclude in Aug. However, Season 4 got delayed due to the pandemic. It premiered on Nov 7, 2021, and is expected to conclude in Jan 2022.
Though the makers would love to return to the previous release window, the new release window has worked wonders for them. Yellowstone Season 4 is garnering crazy numbers and this might become a reason for producers to release season five in Nov or Dec 2022. Besides this, a new season needs around 8-10 months to wrap up shoot, post-production and get ready for release. So, I am expecting Yellowstone Season 5 to release by the end of 2022.
Yellowstone Universe is expanding with a spin-off and a prequel series
Considering how popular Yellowstone is, the show’s creator Taylor Sheridan is expanding it with a prequel and a spin-off series. A prequel series, titled 1883, is in production. Starring Sam Elliott and Tim McGraw. It will debut on Dec 19,2021, on Paramount Plus.
A spinoff titled 6666 is also in the works. It does not have an official release date, but it will also stream on Paramount Plus.
Yellowstone Season 1, 2 and 3 are available to stream on Peacock Premium. Season 4 is available on Paramount Network.
