Warrior Nun Season 3: The beloved Netflix series is returning, but it will differ slightly from what fans may have anticipated. Here’s everything you need to know!
Created by Simon Barry, Warrior Nun is an American fantasy drama series based on Ben Dunn’s comic book character Warrior Nun Areala. The story follows a 19-year-old lady who awakens in a mortuary with a new lease on life and a holy relic embedded in her back. She learns that she is now a member of the ancient Order of the Cruciform Sword, tasked with combating demons on Earth, and that strong powers from heaven and hell are out to find and control her.
The show debuted on Netflix on July 2, 2020, with mostly positive reviews. It was soon renewed for a second season that premiered on Nov 10, 2022. As for the further seasons, the show’s creator Simon Barry informed fans last year that it would not return for a third season, which devastated viewers despite the fact that the show spent three weeks in the top 10 worldwide on Netflix. Netflix cancelled the show after the second season.

Warrior Nun Season 3 returns as a movie trilogy
Well, the fandom power has worked. The good news is that the show is coming back, but season 3 of the beloved series will look a little different from what fans might’ve expected. We’re not getting a full season and instead, there’ll be three feature-length movies.
There was also news that the entire Warrior Nun franchise could also result in more movies and yet another TV series based on existing characters from the original series.
In a statement shared on the Warrior Nun Saved website, executive producer Dean English said: “I am very happy to announce that Warrior Nun is coming back as a trilogy of motion pictures. Once again, a trilogy of feature films. Three.”
He also thanked the fans for their ongoing support, resulting in the reversal of its cancellation. He said: “It’s because of you and your incredible energy that we keep pushing forward to make these stories. You guys really make it all worthwhile. So thank you so much for your continued support.”
“Some may ask, ‘Does this perhaps infer that there’s going to be a universe being launched of Warrior Nun, which could expand into films and TV series following characters that we already know?’” he continued.
“The answer to that question is yes. And there will be more details in the future.”
Back in July 2020, Simon Barry told Inverse that there were plans far beyond even three seasons:
“With Warrior Nun, I would give it a window because we’re still so early in the process of developing it. Anything between five and seven seasons would be lovely.”
Well, he is surely working on his plans.
Warrior Nun movie release date
Warrior Nun’s future looks bright from here as we will get three full feature-length films. However, we don’t yet know when these movies will be released as of our most recent update.
The fact that the producers so confidently announced three films means that there are plans in place to shoot them consecutively, which leaves the possibility of the first movie premiere in 2024. However, 2025 looks more likely as pre-production, filming and post-production take at least a year. But since nothing has been made explicitly apparent as of yet, this is only an assumption. So stay tuned.
What will happen in Warrior Nun movies?
We don’t currently have a lot of information regarding the Warrior Nun plot. But we do know that there will be three feature-length specials where the plot will be continued. Every season of Warrior Nun ends on a cliffhanger, as you are well aware, and season 2 was no exception. Therefore, we need more.
It turns out that Adriel’s rule over Earth actually helped in defending humanity against a greater threat that is shortly to come from his realm. That indicates that the popular Warrior Nun will soon be at war, which is difficult given the numerous other problems Ava must address, such as the Halo situation and Lilith’s unexpected change.
Warrior Nun Movie Cast
It’s difficult to predict who’s going to star in the movies, but our best guess is that Alba Baptista will almost certainly return to play Ava Silva. Along with Baptista, it seems a safe bet that other supporting stars like Lorena Andrea (Sister Lilith) and Tristan Ulloa (Father Vincent) could be back.
The one thing we know for sure is that Toya Turner won’t be returning. Turner had to step away from the series, meaning her character, Shotgun Mary, did not return for the second season.
Is there any trailer?
Currently, there is no trailer. Since the trilogy was only recently announced, it is far too early to expect one.
Where to watch Warrior Nun?
Since it has been revealed that Netflix will not be releasing a third season, viewers will have to wait to find out where they can watch the new films. Instead, a streaming network like Prime Video or Max could be a possibility. There is even an outside chance it could end up in theaters. However, with the news of other movies or a new series being announced as well, it is most likely a streaming service will be the future home for the Warrior Nun franchise.
