Upload Season 2: Here’s everything you need to know about the next instalment of Amazon Prime’s sci-fi comic series Upload.
Greg Daniels, the creator of The Office US and Space Force, came up with another series on Amazon Prime, titled Upload. The show was appreciated for its uniqueness, funny and heartfelt elements. The series takes place in the near future, where people can be “uploaded” into a virtual afterlife of their choice.
It follows Nathan Brown (Robbie Amell), a young app developer, who winds up in the hospital following a self-driving car accident, needing to quickly decide his fate. So, after a rushed deliberation with his shallow girlfriend Ingrid, he chooses to be uploaded to her family’s luxurious virtual afterlife, the Horizen company’s “Lakeview.” The rest of the show deals with how Nathan navigates this new digital extension of life and the adventures he faces.
On May 8, just 7 days after the premiere of Season 1, Amazon Studios confirmed Upload will have a second season. Greg Daniels said, “I am thrilled to continue a great relationship with Amazon Studios and this wonderful cast and find out what happens next to Nora and Nathan and Ingrid and their 2033 world with this news I can stop drawing my season 2 flipbook.”
The announcement of the forthcoming season sent the fans into a dizzy and they are eagerly awaiting its premiere. We are here to give more details about Upload season 2.
Upload Season 2 Plot
It is highly anticipated that the narrative will pick up with Nora and Byron in the Poconos, Nathan frozen at 2G status, and Ingrid recently uploading to be with him. Since the first season ended with a brilliant cliffhanger, the fans are waiting for the next season with bated breath.
Amazon Studios’ head Jennifer Salke said season 2 would also be a “smart, cinematic comedy crackling with intrigue. We know our global fans want to see the next chapter with Nathan and Nora, so we are greenlighting season two and are excited that Greg’s passion project has found such a devoted audience,” she added.
The upcoming season will have to answer several questions creeping in the viewer’s mind. How did Ingrid upload to Lakeview (was it suicide?). How will the love triangle between Nathan, Nora, and Ingrid (or a square, if we include Byron) be resolved?. What will the future hold for Nathan’s and Jamie’s Beyond program?. Who exactly murdered Nathan? We can expect the upcoming season to be a purely engaging and engrossing one combined with some spectacular reveals.
- Robbie Amell as Nathan Brown, a 27-year-old computer engineering who is uploaded to the digital afterlife Lake View.
- Andy Allo as Nora Antony, a living woman who is Nathan’s handler in his afterlife.
- Allegra Edwards as Ingrid Kannerman, Nathan’s girlfriend.
- Zainab Johnson as Aleesha, Nora’s coworker who is Luke’s handler.

The cast is set to remain the same with no major changes as such. There has been no official statement regarding the addition of new members to the cast for the second season.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and global lockdown, there’s much uncertainty over television and film production. The second season is still in the pre-production phase. Greg Daniels will continue to serve as the showrunner and executive producer alongside Howard Klein.
Trailer and Release Date
Season 2 was announced on 8 May 2020, a week after the premiere of the first season. Since the show is yet under pre-production, the trailer is not released. Since there’s no filming going on right now due to COVID-19, we have no idea when season 2 will start production. It is expected that season 2 of Upload will release in the second half of 2021. Meanwhile, you can stream the first season on Amazon Prime.
