The first season of Carnival Row premiered on Amazon Prime Video on August 30, 2019. The eight episodes fantasy drama series received positive reviews from critics and viewers. Before the first series premiered, Amazon Prime Video renewed the series for the second season in July 2019. Carnival Row Season 2: Expected Plot
This series follows the story of mythical creatures who have escaped from their homeland to coexist with humans when their freedom is broken by tensions arising between citizens and the growing population. Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne play the main protagonist in this series.
In Season 1, viewers witnessed Philo investigating murders and finding connections to the individuals who were a part of the murders. He also came to know about his ancestry. The plot from season 1 unleashed another upcoming season.
In Season 2, viewers may get to know more about Philo and Vignette and their collaboration towards Fae fights for their liberation. Jonah and Sophie formed a political alliance that could prove bad news for all non-humans. Apart from that, it is highly anticipated that the love story going on between Imogen Spurnrose and Agreus Astrayon will take a turn as they fight everything that stands against them.

The cast from the previous season had us all excited. There could be some new faces or even changes to the cast. But no hints have been dropped by the creators so far.
There have been some changes behind the scenes. Deadline reporting that one of the series’ showrunners, Marc Guggenheim, has left the show to concentrate on other projects he has already underway. Erik Oleson (Netflix’s Daredevil) has replaced him. One other creator, Travis Beacham, left the production citing creative differences.
Carnival Row Season 2 Production Updates
The filming for season two started in Nov 2019 but had to be halted in March 2020 due to the pandemic. The production was supposed to resume in May 2020 but that didn’t happen. Filming finally resumed in July 2020 and finished in August 2020 in the Czech Republic.
Production for the second season again resumed in May 2021 to film the remaining scenes which involve Orlando Bloom, who was not available in 2020 due to the birth of his first child.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in February 2021, Tamzin Merchant, who plays Imogen Spurnrose, informed that only five out of eight episodes were wrapped up.

When will Carnival Row Season 2 premiere on Prime Video?
As of Jan 22, 2022, there is no official update from Amazon Prime Video about the release date for the second season.
If we look at the filming and release calendars for season 1, we may get an idea when season 2 might arrive on Amazon Prime Video. Filming on season 1 of Carnival Row concluded in March 2018. Season 1 premiered on Amazon Prime Video on Aug 30, 2019, around 17 months after the completion of filming.
However, the second season had a very troubling filming schedule due to the pandemic. The filming finally wrapped up in Sep 2021. Considering the same schedule, we can expect Carnival Row Season 2 to release by the end of 2022 or early 2023.
However, the second season might arrive early as the filming for the first five episodes finished way back in Aug 2020.
