Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi recorded good growth on Sunday to end the first weekend on a winning note.
There is no stopping Alia Bhatt’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ at the box office. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s biographical drama movie has exceeded expectations to put up a big show at the box office. After a superb opening, Alia Bhatt starrer recorded good growth on Saturday and Sunday to end the first weekend on a winning note.
Released on Feb 25 Gangubai Kathiawadi opened to a terrific response at the box office. Exceeding all expectations, it collected Rs 10.5 Crore on the first day. Alia Bhatt starrer witnessed good growth on Saturday thanks to positive WOM and reviews. With around 28% growth, it collected Rs 13.32 Crore on Saturday.

As expected, the movie witnessed good growth on Sunday as well. As per trade expert Taran Adarsh, Gangubai Kathiawadi collected Rs 15.3 Crore on Sunday (Day 3).
The first-weekend collection of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ stands at around Rs 39.12 Crore. This is an impressive number for a niche movie.

Though the movie has posted impressive numbers over the weekend, its box office fate will depend on how it performs from Monday to Thursday. The hold on Monday will be crucial for the coming days. The business on weekdays will benefit due to the Maha Shivratri holiday on Tuesday.
Gangubai Kathiawadi Box Office Economics
The total budget of the movie is around Rs 175 Crore including the promotion, publicity and advertising costs. Recovery of around Rs 110 Crore has been made through satellite, digital and music rights. It leaves Rs. 65 crore to be recovered from theatrical revenue.
In order to become a box office hit, Gangubai Kathiawadi needs to cross the Rs 100 Crore mark at the box office.
