Sardar Udham Singh was scheduled to release on Gandhi Jayanti 2020 but got postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the cinemas have reopened now, the makers have opted for a direct OTT release. One of the main reasons being that the audience is still reluctant to go to theatres due to the fear of the pandemic.
Sardar Udham had its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Oct 16, 2021. The film is getting rave reviews from critics and viewers. Shoojit Sircar directional is a story around the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre on Apr 13, 1919. It is a biographical drama based on Udham Singh, a revolutionary freedom fighter who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer to seek revenge for Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.

The filming kicked off in London in April 2019. The movie was also shot in Russia, Europe, Ireland, Germany and North India. Though the filming wrapped up in Dec 2019, the post-production took a long time. The movie was initially scheduled for release last year on Gandhi Jayanti but got delayed due to the pandemic.
