As crazy as this sounds, this may just be true. Salmans’s production house Salman Khan Films are planning to a make biopic style movie based on Somen Banerjee. So, Salman Khan to make a movie highlighting male striptease artistes is in-fact true!
As it turns out, Somen Banerjee was an Indian American entrepreneur and co-founder of Chippendales. Chippendales is a touring dance troupe best known for its male striptease performances. Established in 1979, Chippendales was the first all-male stripping troupe to make a business performing for mostly female audiences. Banerjee was subsequently sent to prison for arson, racketeering, and murder for hire, where his body was found dead.
Salman Khan confirmed the news to Bombay Times-
“A Bengali man, who moved from India to America in the late 60s, struggled and created one of America’s most iconic brands. We are going to tell the story of Somen Banerjee, a man driven by fierce ambition, on celluloid.”
The movie will showcase Banerjee’s journey from Kolkata to Los Angeles and Europe. The makers are currently working on the script of the movie, which will be produced as a feature film and also a mini-series.
