A biopic on Saina Nehwal has been in news for some time now and Shraddha Kapoor has finally been signed for it.
You may call it a luck or hard work but Shraddha Kapoor is having a dream period as far as the offers she is getting despite the poor performance of her recent movies. Yes, Shraddha has grabbed another big project and it is a biopic on ace badminton player Saina Nehwal. The movie will be directed by Amol Gupte who has earlier helmed projects like Stanley Ka Dabba and Hawa Hawaii.
Shraddha Kapoor is currently working on another biopic, Haseena: The Queen of Mumbai in which she is playing Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar. The actress looked happy as he begged the role of India’s best badminton player. Speaking to TOI, Shraddha said, “Most girls have played badminton at some point in their lives in school. I feel so lucky to be playing Saina, who’s not just been the world’s No. 1 badminton player, but is also a youth icon. I can’t wait to start prepping for my role.”
Speaking to TOI, Saina said, “I was aware of the film, yes, but I didn’t know about the casting. It’s great if Shraddha plays me because she is a very talented actress and very hardworking. I am sure she will do justice to the role. The best part is, she is a good friend as well. So it will be easier to teach her some badminton skills. A lot of people did tell me that we do look similar and I think that’s a huge compliment because Shraddha is very good looking.”
To be produced by T-Series, the biopic will go on floors in the second half of 2017. It is expected to hit the theatres on 2018.
Shraddha is currently busy with the promotion activities of her upcoming movies Half Girlfriend. Half Girlfriend also stars Arjun Kapoor and will hit the theatres on 26 May 2017.
