Yellowstone returned with its fifth season in November 2022. It saw continuous growth in viewership with each passing episode. The drama follows the Dutton family as they continue their power struggle to keep hold of the largest ranch in Montana. Since its premiere on Nov 13, 2022, Yellowstone Season 5 episodes have been airing weekly without any break. Well, this is about to change as the series is going on a hiatus after the seventh episode that premieres on Dec 18, 2022.
The fifth season is the largest season yet with 14 episodes. These fourteen episodes are split into two halves of seven episodes each. With the first part concluding on Sunday, fans are excited to know when will the show return for episode 8 and the rest of part 2. Earlier, there were reports that the show will return in Spring 2023. However, this is not going to be the case. Yellowstone will take a short break after Sunday’s episode.
Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 8 Release Date
Episode 8 of Yellowstone season 5 will air on Paramount Network in the US at 8pm ET/PT on Sunday, January 1, 2023. The show is simply taking a short break over the festive period, rather than taking an extended hiatus as many believed.
When Yellowstone returns in January, we expect it to follow a strict weekly schedule. So, one can expect Season 5 finale to air on Sunday, Feb 12, 2023.
Outside of the US, where Yellowstone airs on Paramount+, episode 8 is scheduled to arrive on Monday, Jan 2, 2023.
What happened in Yellowstone Season 5 so far?
This season of Yellowstone hasn’t been full of action yet. Duttons have spent most of Season Five partying on the ranch and herding cattle while their enemies plot against them.
Season 5 of Yellowstone started with a huge shift in the political geography of Montana as John Dutton becomes the state’s governor. The news was a tough blow for the scheming Market Equities whose dreams to build an airport on Yellowstone Ranch zipped again.
Caroline Warner pledged to bring in the big guns and recruited the corporate shark Sarah Atwood to bring down the Duttons. Atwood quickly got to work and targets Jamie Dutton as a weak link in the family and starts manipulating him.
What will happen in part two?
It is difficult to predict the events when the show returns in Jan 2023. However, one thing is sure. Duttons have plenty of problems to face. John’s son, Jamie, is looking all set to take the governorship from John. Moreover, he’s sleeping with the enemy, Sarah Atwood from Market Equities. Sarah is doing her best to exploit Jamie and her aim is to allow Market Equities to steal much of the Dutton family’s land.
Thomas Rainwater isn’t too happy with the lack of attention John has shown the reservation. John has two more big issues to face. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Park officers are behind him after accidentally killing endangered wolves.
“When I stepped into that world, I wanted there to be real consequences,” creator Taylor Sheridan told The Atlantic about writing Yellowstone. “I wanted to never, ever shy away from, This was the price.”
