The Walking Dead: Dead City is a post-apocalyptic horror drama series created by Eli Jorné and based on the characters Maggie and Negan from The Walking Dead.

The series follows both characters as they enter a post-apocalyptic Manhattan cut off from the mainland in search of Maggie’s kidnapped son, Hershel. The city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world. Across its inaugural season, The Walking Dead: Dead City had been steadily escalating toward a violent confrontation between its protagonists and the antagonist, the Croat, creating an anticipation for a climactic clash. However, in an unexpected turn during the season finale, the two main characters find themselves facing off against each other instead of the anticipated showdown with the Croat.

The first season of the show concluded on July 23, 2023. Later that month, the show was renewed for a second season. Since then, the post-apocalyptic horror drama franchise fans have been wondering when will the second season premiere.

If you are one of them, you have come to the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2!

When will Dead City Season 2 premiere?

Good news for fans!! AMC renewed “The Walking Dead” spinoffs “Dead City” and “Daryl Dixon” for second seasons. The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 does not yet have an official release date. It is, however, expected to arrive by 2024.

The 2024 release date is speculated since the first season had an eight-month filming and post-production process between mid-late 2022 and early 2023 before its June 2023 release. If the same pattern holds true for the second season, The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 will most likely be released in 2024. So, stay tuned for the official confirmation.

What will Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 be about?

It’s too early for plot details since the renewal was announced a few months ago. What happened in the season finale, however, lays the groundwork for Dead City’s next story. Negan has the opportunity to return to his position as the head of a vicious gang and possibly grow even more powerful if he accepts Dama’s offer to lead her forces in the takeover of Manhattan.

This may lead to Negan returning to at least some of his evil behavior. In either case, even though Negan’s actions are partly driven by Dama’s threat to harm Herschel, his new role sets the stage for him and Maggie to be at odds for the majority of The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2.

How many episodes will be there in Dead City Season 2?

When The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 was officially greenlit by AMC at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, its episode count wasn’t announced. However, if the series maintains its established pattern, it’s logical to expect that like its first season, Dead City Season 2 will comprise six episodes.

Who is the cast of Dead City Season 2?

Apart from Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Dead City Season 2 will see the return of Ginny, as confirmed by Mahina Napolean, the actress portraying her. He affirmed her return to shoot additional episodes in New York during 2023 (via MidWeek).

While there’s no official confirmation about the rest of the cast returning for Dead City season 2, it’s reasonable to expect Gauis Armstrong (Perlie) and Željko Ivanek (The Croat) to remain as series regulars, given their characters’ survived in the first season.

Additionally, considering the events of the last two episodes, it seems likely that The Dama (Lisa Emery) is set to play the main antagonist.

Obviously, we will update you about more on casting when the official details are released.

Is there any trailer?

There is currently no trailer, and one will not appear until we get closer to the release of season 2. Fans will have to wait a little while longer since that might not happen for a while.

Where to watch Dead City?

Walking Dead premieres exclusively on AMC+. Each episode, as well as several other shows from the franchise, is available on the streamer. So, what are you holding out for?
