Sweet Tooth Season 3: What Will It Be About?
Sweet Tooth is set in a world in which a virus has killed a majority of the world’s human population, coinciding with the emergence of hybrid babies that are born with animal characteristics. Convery plays Gus, a naïve 10-year-old part-deer boy, who sets out to find his mother after the death of his father.
After Sweet Tooth season 2 concluded with Abbot’s defeat at Gus’s old cabin in Yellowstone, the show made it very evident where the characters were going. Gus, Big Man, Wendy, and Bear/Becky set out to find his mother in Alaska as he was determined to get there. The characters’ lives will undoubtedly begin anew in Sweet Tooth season 3, but by dividing the cast, they have also created the possibility of additional branching storylines that may continue past the third season.
Showrunner Mickle tells Tudum, “It’sanother road trip story like Season 1, but in a very different way. Season 3 is an Arctic story with exciting new adventures and what we hope will be a satisfying conclusion to this epic tale. Gus is going to see a side of the world and humanity that he didn’t see in Season 1 or 2.”
Series star Convery tells Tudum that we also see a tonal shift. “Season 3 is darker than Season 2,” said the star. “Gus is growing alongside the series, starting to mature as the themes get darker. There’s a lot he has to deal with, and it’s peak Sweet Tooth intensity.”
“In Season 3, everybody is dealing with some kind of wound or emotional loss, whether that was somebody in their life or a part of themselves,” Mickle told Netflix. “Everybody is looking inward and looking to move on and ultimately learning that life doesn’t stop. You have to keep putting one foot in front of another.”
