Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story is a spinoff of the exciting and thrilling web series Special Ops that premiered last year. It will focus on Kay Kay Menon’s back story as a RAW agent.
Disney+ Hotstar’s ‘Special Ops’ was one of the most popular web series of 2020. Created by Neeraj Pandey, the action espionage thriller received a positive response from critics and viewers for impressive performances and indulging plotline. Since the first season dropped, the fans have been waiting for Special Ops season 2. However, director Neeraj Pandey has some other plans. Before season 2, the makers are coming with a spinoff titled Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story.
Neeraj Pandey and Hotstar Specials have big plans with the Special Ops franchise. Special Ops 1.5 is the first project of their Special Ops Universe. Neeraj is planning to tell the story of multiple characters, several high-profile events as a part of this Universe.

Neeraj shared that Special Ops was imagined as a universe, beyond regular and linear stories. In a statement, he said, “The response by the audiences demanded that we embark on the journey. We are starting off with a unique Special Ops 1.5; which is neither a prequel nor a sequel and with this, the audience will be witnessing the backstory of the main protagonist Himmat Singh. The series will start with Himmat Singh being assigned another case, but the deflection point is the same parliament attack that started the series of events.”
Plot
As the name suggests, this short spinoff will focus on the lead protagonist Kay Kay Menon aka Himmat Singh’s story. As per the reports we have, the show will focus on Himmat Singh’s juvenile years as a RAW agent. The show will chronicle Himmat Singh’s journey as he takes new challenges.
Special Ops 1.5 release date and episode count
Special Ops 1.5 is one of the most anticipated shows of 2021. In an interview, Neeraj clarified that it is not a conventional season 2. It will be of just 3 episodes of 1 hour each. The filming wrapped up in August 2021.
The makers released a 25-second teaser on Oct 14, 2021. The teaser mentions ‘the making of Himmat Singh’. The crispy teaser has already set the fans on their toes. Coming to the release date, Special Ops 1.5 will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on Nov 12, 2021.
Talking about the show, lead actor Kay Kay Menon said, “If you thought that you had seen the best of Himmat Singh, you need to wait for Special Ops 1.5 – it is a terrific redemption story! While it’s not a prequel to Special Ops, there is some interesting history about the character that will unfold. As an actor I strive to do different things and being part of a new universe is very exciting.”

Special Ops 1.5 cast
Since the spinoff will focus on the leak protagonist Kay Kay Menon aka Himmat Singh’s story. Aftab Shivdasani will play an important role. Actor Aadil Khan made his Bollywood debut last year with the movie Shikara also has an important role. Gautami Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Parmeet Sethi and KP Mukherjee will reprise their roles.
