Jawan to premiere on Netflix
Shah Rukh Khan’s mass action entertainer Jawan will make its digital debut on the streaming giant Netflix. Though there is no official announcement, reports suggest that Jawan’s post-theatrical rights have been sold for Rs 250 Crore, which includes its digital rights, satellite, and musical rights. Moreover, the opening credits in the theatrical print have confirmed that Netflix has acquired the streaming rights.
Jawan is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment. The previous content from this production house, including Darlings, Raees, Ittefaq, Zero, and Bard of Blood, was released on Netflix.
Shah Rukh Khan’s last release, Pathaan, was released on Amazon Prime Video. However, that movie was produced by Yash Rah Films.
Jawan OTT Release Date
Shah Rukh Khan’s last release, Pathaan, was released on OTT 56 days after its theatrical run. Most big Bollywood hits are released on OTT after 8 weeks of their theatrical release. Jawan is expected to follow this pattern.
With this calculation, we expect Jawan to make its digital debut in the first week of November. The makers may plan a big digital release during Diwali 2023 which falls on Nov 12, 2023.
Amid all the hype, the director of the movie, Atlee, has given an exciting update on the OTT release. He told Pinkvilla, “I think we have given the theatre the right ratio of emotions at the right length. For OTT, we are considering a different rhythm. So, yeah, we are working on something. That’s why I didn’t go on my holiday. Let’s see. Let me surprise you all.”
