Hera Pheri 3 Takes a Time Leap, Priyadarshan To Direct The Film

Priyadarshan is reportedly returning to direct the third instalment of the famous comic franchise.

The fans have been eagerly waiting for the third instalment of Hara Pheri franchise ever since the release of Phir Hera Pheri in 2006. A few months back filmmaker Indra Kumar had revealed that he was working on the script of Hera Paheri 3 and intended to take the film on the floors by the year-end.

Now, it is being reported that director Indra Kumar has opted out of Hera Pheri 3 due to his busy schedule and producer Firoz Nadiadwala has brought back Priyadarshan on board.

Priyadarshan confirmed that he has been in talks with Akshay, Suniel and Firoz for Hera Pheri 3. The director affirmed that it will take a while before he got to it.

“I am currently busy with my Malayalam film, Marakkar: The Lion of Arabian Sea. It is a huge film and I will only think about Hera Pheri after this one is out of my system. Nothing is concrete as of yet,” said Priyadarshan.

Another big news about the film is that it will take a time leap. Hera Pheri 3 will have Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal reprising their roles as Raju, Baburao Ganpatrao Apte and Shyam respectively.

A source close to the film told Mumbai Mirror that this time, the actors will play characters closer to their real ages, as the script is taking a time leap. “It takes off from where Phir Hera Pheri ended but fast-forwards into the present,” the source said.

The basic idea of the film was written by the late filmmaker Neeraj, who also directed the second instalment, and Priyadarshan will work with his team to develop it into a screenplay. “While the leads are eager to reunite, they don’t want to sign the film just to milk the brand. They are waiting for a narration,” the source informed.

Hera Pheri 3 has been through a lot of ups and down. Earlier, it was planned with Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham replacing Akshay Kumar, but the project was shelved. Last year, it was announced that Akshay would be back in the franchise, however, the movie couldn’t take off.
