It’s been almost a year since the second season of Ginny and Georgia arrived on Netflix. Since then fans have been eagerly waiting for the third season, which was announced by the streamer in May 2023 along with the fourth season. With at least two seasons on the line, there is a lot to look forward to for Ginny and Georgia fans. So, when will Ginny and Georgia Season 3 be on Netflix?
A Big Update on Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Production
Ginny & Georgia’s creator, Sarah Lampert, recently shared a selfie on her Instagram story, seemingly taken in the Netflix series’ production office, evident from the artwork featuring the show’s titular characters in the background.
Her caption, “[really] excited for Season 3,” hints at an acceleration in the series’ development.
With production expected to start in a few weeks, when can we expect the third season to arrive on Netflix?
When Will Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Release on Netflix?
Ginny & Georgia received a renewal for two more seasons in mid-May, amid the writers’ strike that halted much of Hollywood’s work. The writing team likely couldn’t start working until the strike ended in September. So, it is not confirmed yet if the writing for the third season has concluded or not.
However, we still expect filming to start in early 2024. Now, if we look at the production timelines of the previous seasons, Season 1 was filmed from August to December 2019, and released in February 2021, while Season 2 was filmed from November 2021 to April 2022, and finally arrived on Netflix in January 2023.
If Season 3 follows a similar schedule, fans might anticipate around 14 months from filming initiation to the premiere. If filming begins in early 2024, new episodes could likely hit Netflix in the first half of 2025.
Given that Netflix renewed the series for two seasons, there is a possibility of filming Seasons 3 and 4 consecutively. In that scenario, the extended development and filming duration might push the release further into 2025.
However, we expect Ginny & Georgia Season 3 to premiere in January or February 2025. When Netflix renewed the series for third and fourth seasons, Sarah Glinski replaced Fisher as the new showrunner.
