The whole country is in a celebratory mood after India’s moon mission ‘Chandrayaan 2’ lifted off from its launch pad. The launch successfully took place at 2.43 pm on Monday from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
‘Chandrayaan 2’, a low-cost mission, carrying a billion dreams with itself, that intends at making India the fourth country in the world, after the US, Russia, and China – to complete a soft landing on the Moon. The launch of Chandrayan 2 was delayed by a week due to a technical snag.
The Rs.978 crore mission also brought women power to the fore as it was driven by two-woman scientists of the ISRO–Ritu Karidhal, the mission director and M Vanitha, the Project Director.


Joined by President Ram Nath Kovind and the scientists at ISRO, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the scientists and said every Indian is immensely proud of this moment.
It was indeed a moment of pride for the whole country. Within minutes of the launch, social media was filled with heartfelt posts and congratulatory messages for the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) on this landmark moment.
