Records are meant to be broken and same holds true in Bollywood. There was a time when achieving 50 crores mark was a dream for Bollywood movies. The economics have changed in the last ten years and now the standards are high. After 100 crores and 200 crores, 300 crores club is now the top rated business benchmark in Bollywood. While other Bollywood actors are still dreaming of it, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are reigning kings of 300 crore club.

Aamir Khan’s PK was the first movie to cross 300 crore mark. PK was followed by Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Salman Khan followed it up with Sultan released on Eid 2016. Aamir Khan made his second entry to the club with Dangal released on Christmas 2016. Aamir Khan’s Dangal is the highest grossing movie of Bollywood with the collection of 387.8 crores.
No one would have thought that the Hindi dubbed version of South Indian movie will shatter all box office records. S.S Rajamouli’s Bahubali 2 earned 300 crores and that too in record time. The hindi version of Bahubali 2 earned mammoth 511 crores in India. The movie took only 10 days to cross 300 crores mark. Salman Khan strengthens his box office hold with Tiger Zinda Hai. Released on Christmas Tiger Zinda Hai is Salman’s third 300 crore movie.
Two movies have crossed 300 crores in 2018. The first one was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat releaseed in January 2018. The movie earned 302 crores in India. The next one in line is Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju. The movie has so far earned 316.46 crores in India. It is expected to earn around 300 crores in its lifetime.
Bollywood’s 300 Crores Club Movies: Fastest Entry
The race to the 300 crores mark was always there but the faster you finish the better you are. Aamir Khan’s PK took just 17 days to enter 300 crore club, followed by Bajrangi Bhaijaan making it in 20 days and Sultan in 35 days. Aamir Khan’s Dangal took 13 days. Bahubali 2, however, took only 10 days, thus becoming the fastest 300 crores grosser of Bollywood. Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai took 16 days to achieve this feat.
Padmaavat took 50 days to achieve this target. Sanju touched this incredible feat on 16th day of its release.
Bollywood’s 300 Crore Club Actors
Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are called the Box Office kings of Bollywood for a reason. With Tiger Zinda Hai, Salman Khan has three 300 crores movies. Aamir Khan has two while Ranveer, Shahid and Ranbir has one each. Salman and Aamir were 49 years old when they achieved this feat. Ranveer Singh is the youngest entrant to 300 crores club.
Bollywood’s 300 Crore Club Actresses
Anushka was the first actress to enter the 300 crores club at 26 years while Kareena did the same at 34 years. But to give tough competition and to raise the bar even higher Sanya Malhotra at 23 and Fatima Sana Sheikh at 24 have made it next to impossible for the current actresses to break this record. However, Anushka is the only actress in the film industry with two films in the 300 crores club i.e. Sultan and PK.
Bollywood’s 300 Crore Club: Other Facts & Details
- Rajkumar Hirani got the privilege to enter this club first at the age of 52. But the youngest one to do so was Ali Abbas Zafar at 33 years. Kabir Khan made it to the 300 crores club at the age of 43 years. Ali Abbas Zafar and Rajkumar Hirani have two movies each.
- Screen count plays an important role in deciding the Box Office numbers especially when the movies gross 300 crore mark. PK was released at 3600 screens and Sultan was at 4350 screens on a worldwide basis. Bajrangi Bhaijaan was screened at 4100 screens. But above all, Dangal was screened at 4200 screens. Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai was released on 4600 screens.
- 6 out of 8 movies were released on holiday weekend. This tells us that holiday season plays an important role in boosting the Box Office numbers of the movie.
