Black Summer is a Netflix Original zombie-thriller series created by John Hyams and Karl Schaefer, who had earlier created Z-Nation along with Craig Engler. It is produced by The Asylum, the production house behind Z-Nation, and is primarily written and directed by Hyams. The first season premiered on Netflix on April 11, 2019.

Despite mixed reviews and moderate response, Netflix renewed the series for an eight-episode second season in November 2019. It’s already been more than two years since the first season landed. The fans have been eagerly waiting for updates about the show. Here’s everything you need to know about the second season of Black Summer.

What will be the plot of Black Summer Season 2?

Set in an apocalyptic world, which is looming from the dangers of a zombie outbreak, the show follows Rose who is separated from her daughter, Anna. The show depicts the laborious journey that she must embark on with a few refugees before things get worse due to a zombie apocalypse. The show is considered a prequel/spiritual reboot to Z-Nation.

It is quite difficult to predict the plot of the upcoming season as season 1 ended on a positive note. In the concluding episode of the first season, Rose reunited with her daughter. Other than Rose, Spears and Sun managed to survive the journey.

Nothing about the plot has been revealed so far. It is anticipated that the makers would link up the events to the series Z-nation. The writers have to make the upcoming season exciting with action, deadly zombies, interesting storylines, and dynamic characters.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, Jamie King said, “What I can tease is that whatever you think is gonna happen, will not happen. It will always keep you on your toes. It really comes back to like very real human traits. Like, is the person egotistical? Do they have some kind of ulterior motive? What is in each character’s base psychology? That’s what’s so cool about it, is that it really becomes metaphorical to what life is like. Every time I read the script, I just never expected to read what I was going to read.”

Going by her appreciation for the script we just can’t wait to see what the makers have in store for us.

In an interview with Express.co.ukSal Velez Jr suggested that William could also be back. He said, “I can say this, just like Jon Snow had his revival and comeback, I think that since they really don’t show the death of William… I’m going to leave it to the audience’s imagination to see what happens in the next season, I know a lot of people would want to see William but I don’t write or create it and I’m not even allowed to say whether I did die or not.”

Apart from this, there might be other high-profile additions to the cast as well for the second season.
