Kaho Na Pyaar Hai (2000)
Directed by Rakesh Roshan, Shahrukh Khan was the first choice for the role of Rohit who was the protagonist. But later on, when SRK rejected this role Rakesh decided to launch his own son Hrithik Roshan for the lead role.
Lagaan (2001)
Lagaan was initially offered to Aamir Khan but he rejected it because he didn’t want to produce the film. Later on, the role was passed on to SRK who was quite skeptical of the film’s success and therefore, rejected the role. Ashutosh Gowariker then convinced Aamir anyhow and Lagaan became the first film to be nominated in Oscars.
Jodha Akbar (2008)
Even after the failure of Swadesh, Ashutosh Gowariker wanted SRK to play Akbar in Jodha Akbar. But SRK denied the role because he was not comfortable with the shooting locations and wanted to spend time with his family. Jodha Akbar was a success and highly acclaimed critically.

Just Imagine Shahrukh playing this part? Both Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani thought SRK suited well for the part. Then, the role of Zaheer was to be played by Sanjay Dutt but passed on to Jimmy Shergill.
Rang De Basanti (2006)
Again Aamir Khan bagged the role which could have been Shahrukh’s. This was one of the classics of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
3 Idiots (2009)
3 idiots, which was the greatest grossing film in Indian cinemas, an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s book Five Point Someone, fetching many awards was first offered to SRK by Rajkumar Hirani. SRK denied the role and it later went on to Aamir Khan.

Grossing around 375 crores worldwide, Tamil director Shankar opted SRK for this role but was later done by the Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth.
Ek Tha Tiger (2012)
Due to date issues, Shahrukh Khan was not able to play this super-spy but he regrets this decision as Ek the Tiger was a big hit grossing over 100 crores.
Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
Shahrukh Khan rejected the role of Anil Kapoor in the movie and regrets turning it down. Slumdog was widely acclaimed and praised for its plot, soundtrack, and direction.
Taare Zameen Par (2007)
Another Aamir Khan movie, which was initially offered to Shahrukh Khan. Later on, it was both produced and directed by Aamir Khan only and became a big hit at the Box Office.
