Tamasha Movie Review | Critics Review and Rating

Tamasha Movie Review by Lokesh Dharmani from masala.com – If the first half of the film lacked depth and hugely depended on an attempt to create ‘carefree’ characters in carefree Corsica, the second half became a tad loopy and gimmicky. The final verdict? Should we go and watch? Umm yes! I feel Shagun Batra dealt with the same issue in Ek Main Aur Ek Tu a shade better, devoid of any dramatics, real and urbane. But Tamasha, despite bringing in a touch of tamasha, is a one-time watch for sure.

Tamasha Movie Review by Manjusha Radhakrishnan from Gulfnews – Kapoor does a decent job of bringing out the anguish in Ved, but it’s Padukone who’s riveting. Her character isn’t fully fleshed out, but her performance as Tara is gripping. Tamasha may have its heart in the right place, but the conflict in Ved and Tara’s lives will not get your pulse racing. The lead actors and Corsica look picture-perfect, but the movie isn’t free of blemishes.

Tamasha Movie Review by  Sneha May Francis from Emirates247– Tamasha’ works because of its two incredibly talented performers. Each feeding off each other, and challenging each other at every moment. Not a note too high, or too low. They are pitch-perfect. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone display unparalleled talent. While the spotlight is deservedly on Ranbir, Deepika lends him the perfect backing. It’s interesting how Imtiaz subtly uses “bipolar” in the vocabulary of ‘Tamasha’, possibly hinting that Ved isn’t the only one living a conflicted life. And, that’s reassuring, as well as arresting.

Tamasha Movie Review by Bolly Arena – On the whole Tamasha is another brilliant work by Imtiaz Ali. The film has all the ingredients which you can expect from the director. It is a delicious romantic drama filled with elements that make you rack your brains too. Don’t miss this.

Tamasha Movie Review by Subhash K Jha from First Post –Tamasha is a film with ambitions of being mature and experienced. It creates an alternate reality for its principal characters and lets their emotions grow naturally to a point. But then the journey gets tiring for everyone concerned. It doesn’t really get there. But the effort is not unbearably laboured. This is a film that doesn’t entirely succeed in its endeavour to decode the heart’s enigmatic excursions. But the journey is fascinating and admirable, thought not entirely fulfilling.

Tamasha Movie Review by Sreehari Nair from Rediff– The experience of watching Tamasha presents a profound paradox: the supposedly fun bits in the movie are the driest and the driest bits are the most fun. There are no real people in Tamasha  there are only character-types written in little pink balloon-letters, all floating in cloudland

Tamasha Movie Review by Bollywood Hungama – On the whole, TAMASHA comes across as a colossal disappointment in spite of towering performances and chemistry between the lead stars. At the box-office, the film will find it difficult to sustain and negative word of mouth will further erode its business capacity to a great extent.

Tamasha Movie Review by Surabhi Redkar from Koimoi – Tamasha is certainly a one time watch! It is a typical Imtiaz Ali film and hence you cannot go with an expectation of watching a frothy romance. Dealing with the concept of love in a cryptic form, this film will not appeal to everyone. It is not the kind of film you want to enjoy snacking on popcorn.

Tamasha Movie Review by Subhra Gupta from The Indian Express – I really liked a lot of the second half. There’s so much good stuff going on, including the pair which strays, and then journeys towards each other. Despite its flaws, this is Ali’s most complex story, teeming with ideas, and gives us Ranbir back again, along with the lovely Deepika, even if the plot keeps losing sight of her : there are tracts when she goes missing.

Tamasha Movie Review by Subhra Shetty-Saha from Mid  Day – This is not a film telling us a trite, oft repeated story of longings and ecstasies of a man and woman in love. This unique love story talks of self-love. It jolts you out of your safe cocoon of social conditioning to pointedly ask you if you love yourself enough to be able to throw up the rules of society and live the way you really want to.

Tamasha Movie Review by Saibal Chatterjee from NDTV – An off-the beaten track love story that does not go far enough with its surprises, Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha is a film that flatters to deceive. It rolls along smoothly, but so facile are its placid twists and pat resolutions that they cause nary an emotional ripple. Tamasha is at best a one-time watch because of the sparkle the leads lend to it. It could have been so much more

Tamasha Movie Review – Our recommendation
Well, most the review has been quite positive so far. Tamasha is not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s a good movie with brilliant direction, superb performances, and incredible songs. Tamasha should be your pick this weekend.
