Hate Story 2 is another in line from Vikram Bhatt Production. It is the sequel to Hate Story. Movie marks the debut of Television actors Jay Bhanushali and Surveen Chawla.
Hate Story 2 is a revenge drama. Sonika (Suvreen) is a gorgeous beauty who is in keeps of powerful politician Mandar Mhatre (Sushant Singh). He manipulates and exploits her in his way and Sonika longs for true love.
As fate strikes, Sonika meets Akshay (Jay Bhanushali) at a photography class and the cupid strikes. Both of them fall head-over-heels in love with each other. Sonika gets scared of the wrath of Mhatre and warns Jay. But he is madly in love with her and they elope to a faraway place lost in their romantic world making love and having the time of their lives.
As it is obvious, Mhatre finds Akshay and kills him. Sonika is buried alive for her love affair with Akshay. But she manages to crawl out because of her strive for revenge, The story then evolves to how Sonika vows to kill Mhatre for not only killing her lover but for also how he exploited her.
The story line is weak but the performance of both the actors is appreciable. The surprise is Sushant Singh who pulls of the negative role very well.
Jay Bhanushali could have done with more screen space. He appears after 40 minutes the film starts and leaves a small impact.
What drew the audience to this movie was the sensuous track ‘Aaj Phir Tum pe‘ . The sizzling chemistry in the song definitely managed to glue the audience. But Sunny Leone’s item number ‘Pink Lips’ didn’t quite fit as it looked out of proportion and forced. Therefore, just one hit song and sizzling chemistry can’t make up for the flawed and predictable plot. They could have added more twists but it just manages to give a mediocre story line.
However, if one plans on watching the movie just for erotic-content sake, they will be disappointed as there is not much of it.
Overall, Hate Story 2 seems to be surviving, thanks to the huge fan following of the debutants.
