The Upshaws is a popular American sitcom created by Regina Y. Hicks and Wanda Sykes. It follows the titular African-American family as they navigate the ups and downs of life on a daily basis. It is set in Indiana and focuses on family patriarch and mechanic Bennie Upshaw and his wife Regina as they struggle to support their working-class family and raise their children as best they can.
The Netflix original series made its debut on May 12, 2021. In June 2021, it was renewed for a second season. The second installment of the series was broken down into two parts, with the first dropping on Netflix on June 29, 2022. The second part of the second season is set to premiere in early 2023. Last month, Variety reported that Netflix has renewed the series for another season.

The Upshaws Season 3 Release Date
As the year comes to a close, many fans’ beloved TV shows will return, but The Upshaws’ third season will not be one of them. The anticipated premiere date hasn’t been announced yet. The second part of the second season is expected to premiere in early 2023.
With Season 3 already announced, we expect it to be on Netflix in the Summer of 2023. Worry not as we will update this section as and when Netflix announces the premiere date.
The Upshaws Season 3 Plot
As per Netflix:
“A working-class Black family in Indiana strives for a better life and a happy home while juggling everyday struggles in this comedy series.”
Since the final episodes of the second season are yet to air, it is impossible to predict the third season’s specific plot at this early stage. Therefore, it is assumed that the story would continue as a multi-camera comedy focused on a working-class African American family in Indiana trying to make it work and make it right without the necessary instructions. However, be informed because new information about the show can surface anytime.
How many episodes will be there in The Upshaws Season 3?
The first season had 10 episodes, all released in one slot. The second season has 16 episodes split into two halves of eight episodes each. Though Netflix hasn’t revealed the episode count for the third season, we anticipate it to have 16 episodes to release in two parts. Part 1 is expected to premiere in the Summer of 2023 followed by the second part in early 2024.
The Upshaws Season 3 Cast
All regular cast members are expected to return for the upcoming season. They are:
- Mike Epps as Bernard “Bennie” Upshaw Sr., patriarch of the Upshaw family, Regina’s high-school sweetheart and eventual husband. He is the owner of Bennie’s Garage.
- Kim Fields as Regina Upshaw, the matriarch of the Upshaw family; Bennie Sr’s wife and mother to Bernard Jr., Aaliyah, and Maya.
- Wanda Sykes as Lucretia Turner, Regina’s older sister who has an antagonistic relationship with Bennie
- Diamond Lyons as Kelvin Upshaw, Bennie and Tasha’s son who is the same age as Aaliyah, who calls Kelvin her “Ghetto Twin”. He was conceived when Bennie thought he and Regina were on a break.
- Khali Spraggins as Aaliyah Upshaw, Bennie and Regina’s eldest daughter
- Page Kennedy as Duck, an old friend of Bennie’s who also works at his garage. He is recently out of prison and has become a Born-Again Christian.
- Jermelle Simon as Bernard Upshaw Jr., Bennie and Regina’s eldest child and only son together. He has a strained relationship with his father, who wasn’t there for him until he was 16.
- Gabrielle Dennis as Tasha Lewis, Kelvin’s mother
- Journey Christine as Maya Upshaw, Bennie and Regina’s youngest child
