Soorarai Pottru was scheduled to release on Amazon Prime Video on Oct 12, 2020. However, a few hours before its premiere Soorarai Pottru gets leaked on Telegram and other piracy websites for free download. The action drama directed by Sudha Kongara has been keenly awaited by superstar Suriya’s fan.
As per the reports coming, notorious piracy website Tamilrockers leaked Soorarai Pottru online for free download. Other piracy websites followed up and the movie is now available on several piracy sites and Telegram channels.
As Soorarai Pottru is one of the most awaited movies of 2020, its free availability on piracy sites is a big reason to worry for filmmakers and Prime Video. This is not the first time an Amazon Prime direct digital release has leaked online. Earlier this year, Jyothika starrer Ponmagal Vandhal was also leaked for free download.
Talking about Soorarai Pottru, the crime-drama movie was earlier scheduled to release on Amazon Prime Video on October 21, 2020. However, it was postponed due to a delay in obtaining the NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the Indian Air Force. It is inspired by the life of Captain GR Gopinath, a retired Army captain, who founded the low-cost airline Air Deccan.

Reportedly, Amazon Prime Video has bought its digital rights for a whopping Rs 40-45 crore. The satellite rights have been sold to Sun TV for Rs 15 crore. This free online leak may cause a big loss to Amazon Prime Video.
