Snyder Cut: Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a director’s cut of the 2017 American superhero film Justice League.

The Snyder Cut of Justice League also known as Zack Snyder’s Justice League finally has a release date. It will premiere on HBO Max on March 18, 2021, WarnerMedia announced on Friday. The official Twitter handle of HBO Max shared the news. The announcement came with the release of three new posters.

Snyder Cut is actually a director’s cut (new version) of the 2017 American superhero film Justice League. Released in 2017, Justice League saw DC Comics’ greatest superheroes coming together for the first time on the big screen. Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) joined arms to prevent the supervillain Steppenwolf from destroying the Earth.

One of the biggest reason Snyder Cut of Justice League is actually happening is the failure of the theatrical Justice League. It opened to negative reviews from critics and comic book fans. The theatrical Justice League suffered major changes in production and screenplay when Joss Whedon replaced Snyder who had to drop out following the death of his daughter.

Numerous fans expressed interest in an alternate cut, which they nicknamed the Snyder Cut. While it looked highly fictitious, Warner Bros. finally confirmed it in May 2020. It costs around $70 million to complete the visual effects, score, and editing. Now that the movie is ready, it will finally premiere on HBO Max Mar 18, 2021.

Differences between Snyder Cut and Justice League theatrical version

While the plot is the same, there are many differences between the theatrical and Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League. In Snyder’s cut, we will see additional scenes, backstories, mythologies, new characters, and teases for upcoming movies which were not the part of theatrical release. Zack Snyder’s Justice League will not include any scenes shot by Whedon for the theatrical cut.

Snyder Cut duration and release details

The cut was originally planned to release as a four-part miniseries. Warner Media confirmed Zack Snyder’s Justice League as a “full-length Max Original feature film”. It will reportedly be four hours long.

Now that the release date is out, fans across the world are super excited for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. It would be interesting to see how the film will be made available to audiences outside the US as HBO Max is not available anywhere else.
