Pankaj Tripathi, the actor who never fails to charm his fans with his incredible acting skills. Be it in movies or web-series, Pankaj Tripathi has nailed each and every role that he has done so far.
Apart from the many hit movies, Pankaj Tripathi has been a part of two of the most famous and loved web-series of India – Sacred Games and Mirzapur. Both the series witnessed some of the most thrilling scenes with violence, cuss words and nudity.
Although, the series were a great hit among the audience, however, the fact that an Indian web-series had such scenes raised many eyebrows. It also started a debate over possible censorship of digital content in India.
However, Pankaj Tripathi believes that people don’t watch these series for nudity as for that purpose, porn is already available on the internet. He said:
“I feel, there should be a purpose behind everything. If scissoring a scene leaves the story incomplete, then it becomes a concern. Filmmakers like Vikramaditya (Motwane) and Anurag (Kashyap) are responsible people. They will obviously not include a scene just to create a sensation. Pornography is available on the internet. So, why would people watch a web series if watching nudity is their purpose?”
Talking about the debate over possible censorship of digital content in India, Pankaj Tripathi said:
“A responsible filmmaker knows what and how much of anything is necessary for his story. I believe that instead of censorship, there should be a system of certification that helps be categorized into different age groups.”
He also talked about his character of Guruji in the upcoming season of Sacred Games 2. He said:
“It was a difficult role because it wasn’t easy to get that feeling. I have never been a spiritual guru or spent time with one. Also, I don’t know any guru so closely. So, it was a new world that I had to explore. Every actor explores a new world with every new character he or she plays. While most characters are familiar to us, this one was challenging,”
His dialogue from the trailer of the upcoming series – ‘Balidaan Dena Hoga’ was a big hit among the fans, which led to meme-fest on social media. Talking about the same he said:
“Is it? I don”t get time to do social media, so I didn’t watch these memes. I would, however, like to request all viewers to sacrifice their sleep on the night of August 15 to watch the second season of ‘Sacred Games’ at a go.”
The new season of Sacred Games will be released on 15th August and we just can’t wait for this one.
